These individuals are currently filling important rolls and a disruption in their familiar schedules could be very detrimental to their well being. Additionally, their employers will have to spend resources to fill their positions and train new people. Many of these positions are ones that many non challenged individuals would be unwilling to do. This is a BAD MOVE Governor Cuomo!

My younger sister worked in a closed work shop for years. It allowed her to make friends and be a productive member of society.

Supportive, competitive employment is a wonderful goal, but there are so many individuals who benefit from working (helps mental health and socialization) but may struggle in a non-sheltered setting. In fact being forced to attempt leave the familiar, sheltered setting could lead to an experience of failure and more issues. Please save sheltered work while still working toward more integrated settings. This should not be an "all or nothing" option!

New York State is falling apart and that's due to our Governor. We have so many mental health issues in our state. What's being done NOTHING. What a shame.

We need to provide meaningful employment for those who need supervision. As a former supervisor in a sheltered workshop located in a hospital, I have seen first-hand how much the work meant to those who came there daily.
