Stop The Closure Of Peninsula Preparatory Academy Charter School

The students, families and community of Peninsula Preparatory Academy do not accept the decision from the NYC Dept of Education to close down our school effective July 1st. As the DOE recommends that we send our children to local zoned public schools we counter that the these schools were outperformed by Peninsula Prep. In fact Peninsula Prep outperformed all district and charter schools on the peninsula except for one. This means that the peninsula's 2nd best performing school is being closed and its students stuffed into local, overcrowded and under-performing schools. Additionally, Peninsula Prep's closure is one of the first in DOE history where students are being diverted to lower performing schools than the one being closed. The DOE's decision, being based on "poor performance", thereby makes the decision illogical, immoral, possibly illegal and outright wrong. Please support Peninsula Prep, our community and public education as a whole and sign our petition.
