With many expected road closures and road works planned for the local Barnes area, we should be looking at ways to allow traffic to flow coherently around the Barnes and Putney area and not creat more gridlock hotspots. I support the improvements to the mill hill road/ rocks lane area and I agree with an earlier comment of inserting dbl yellow lines on common road as a very sensible solution.

I am very concerned about the proposed closure of Common Lane. This would cause significant congestion at the Rocks Lane/Upper Richmond Road junction which is already a problem. With Erpingham Road closed in the mornings there is no other way to commute between Putney and Barnes. I support the expansion of the Rocks Lane/Mill Hill Road junction but it is not necessary to close Common Lane to make up for the lost common land. The only people to benefit from this would be dog walkers (of which I am one) and cyclists but neither group are in need of more space, but the motorists are in need of less congested roads.

I support the expansion of the junction but am concerned st the prospect of Common road being closed, I feel the current problems could be avoided by putting double yellow lines along the route could help the problem.

Traffic in London is getting slower and slower. The average five-mile trip currently takes c. 30 minutes, up from c. 20 minutes in 2013. The solution to this is not further road closures. There are already plenty of parks and green space in Putney/Richmond/Barnes; there is no need for this closure and it will make traffic terrible.

We need this road! So many parents use it every day to commute to and from work and school. If you live south of the upper Richmond road, for school or work runs you are prohibited already by the closer of the road by Putney leisure centre in the morning rush hour, it's the only way to the lower Richmond road without having to face the barns station traffic, with no stopping and parking bay.

NO (Nitrogen Dioxide) 2 levels 25% in excess of EU limits are constantly measured along the Upper Richmond Road, and if the Common Road will be closed for traffic, the NO levels in Upper Richmond road will rocket as the traffic will no doubt move there. Every Council's first priority should be to ensure that the area is as safe as possible, NOT to make decisions which will increase air pollution and therefore have major negative health impact on thousands of people's lives. Yes, better routes to cyclists are needed in the capital, but it can't be done at the expense of the safe living environment.

Cannot see how this would imrpove the traffic situation, I would expect the opposite to happen. Not only used for the school run but for daily commuters. Rocks Lane would become like a car-park. How many pedestrians are likely to use it regularly? Cyclists can already access the road. Proposal does not seem well thought out given the ramifications.

The closure of this road will send further traffic to already busy junctions and significantly increase congestion in those areas. This proposal makes no sense given the existing restrictions in the Dryburgh Road area and extreme congestion on Upper Richmond Road at peak times.

When looking at the bigger picture of traffic congestion in the area of Putney/Barnes the proposal needs to be reviewed. There is already restrictions on traffic flow between Upper and Lower Richmond as Dryburgh Road in Putney is closed for traffic during school run rush hour. Closing Common road will increase travel time, move traffic to already congested roads and increase air pollution even further for local residents.
