I have been reading the stories you all share about what this space means to your children and it confirms exactly why I started this fight. Moving our library into a basement is an insult to every family who relies on this sanctuary to grow and learn together.

Seeing this kind of momentum confirms that I am not the only one who believes our children deserve better than a basement. I spent all morning reading your stories about why this space is vital and I am overwhelmed by the shared commitment to keep our library welcoming for the next generation.

Please do not move children’s section to the basement. Better access on main level!!!!
Safety would be a concern, only 1 librarian downstairs another, no natural lighting. Why change when there is all that (and more) provided now as it is? Why not have it set up for library programs and community use instead?
A reading atmosphere should be well lit with natural lighting which the basement doesn’t provide. It’s fine for short programming sessions but not for a children’s reading location.
Please leave the library the way it is. It works best for younger children to not have to go downstairs. This would be difficult for parents and caregivers of multiple small children. Using the elevator may become very time consuming due to multiple people using it. Time is of the essence when dealing with multiple little ones!
I think the library should keep the children’s section upstairs. It’s so light, airy and inviting!
If you move children's section down stairs I don't think as many kids would read! It would hurt the children reading!!!!
This does not seem like a smart direction to go, if we truly care about the future generation!

Seeing this kind of momentum confirms that I am not the only one who believes our children deserve better than a basement. I spent all morning reading your stories about why this space is vital and I am overwhelmed by the shared commitment to keep our library welcoming for the next generation.

Children are our future. Pushing them into the basement is not going to help the future of Worch library. It will allow for children to be less attended, and more potential for problems and dangers. Not to mention the environment in the basement is less welcoming and warm. The library is a public place, and how will moms with multiple children able to be into places at once? If the children’s department is moved downstairs, I do not think our family will come to Worch as often. As a Versailles teacher and a mom, I am disappointed in this decision .
