I don't want Australia to become like USA with its vouchers & sledging of people on welfare. And I don't want people to be forced to use corporate shops & take away the freedom of people to go to opp shops & small businesses.

I do not support the cashless welfare card to be forced on anyone, to be restricted from shopping around and buying more effectively, so the dollar goes further. That is how the majority of us live out here. Only those who have high incomes usually have someone else manage their finances. Most would have no idea about budgeting, shopping or paying your bills. So you all think it's a great idea to have someone else manage your money, but for the rest of us, we can and do manage our own expenses and lives. Stay out of our lives and CAN THE CARD.

This is crazy what are single parents supposed to do with their children's activities and how they pay for such things! This government is disgraceful. They are assuming that all centrelink recipients are doing drugs, smoking or drinking. Some of us spend it on our Children!!

The cashless welfare card is a rort of welfare dollars that does nothing to establish freedom for anyone who it targets. In this it denies basic tenets of liberalism and removes choice of spend from everyone. In removing the choice of where to spend it funnels welfare dollars back to big business and corporations - it removes the choice to spend at smaller businesses, and at this, is also bad for small business who no longer get the benefit of the choices people make in where they spend. It removes the ability to vote with your dollar and not give business when and where you want. At this, it undermines democracy. That it has been proven time and time again to do more harm to the communities it affects than good, should be strong enough reason to oppose it - that this hasn’t stopped it, makes its rollout a dubious and extremely questionable stake out, in a mafiosa bullying kind of way, of the welfare dollar by big business. To make matters worse, it is said to cost $10k per card issued - this money would be better spent increasing welfare to meet rises in the CPI and to ensure our most disadvantaged do not become homeless and hopeless to boot. These are good people whose lives you are ruining, these are people who with a bit more faith and a bit more cash, could contribute so much more fully to Australia. Raise the welfare dollar. Remove this abusive and wholly disgusting rollout of the cashless welfare card, create more jobs and begin a process of looking after Australians more fully and wholly than anything that has been done for decades. Then reap the rewards of needing to spend less on corporations that seek to support the poorest to stay poor and of the fact the poor will spend what they have, they will spend as they need the money and most likely, even with an increase will still not have enough to save.
Stop demoralising and criminalising the poor. It is sick to roll out this card - it is sad that you think it necessary. It is demonstrative of
