Cutting metro bus service will hamper our ability to reach 80% clean energy by 2027 and 100% clean energy by 2035.. We need to double metro bus capacity, not cut the vital transportation service it provides.

To address climate change and achieve Montgomery County’s goal if 80% reduction in n greenhouse gases by 2027 and 100% reduction by 2035, we need MORE pubic transportation, including bys routes, not less! I am strongly opposed to WMATA’s proposed cuts!

I oppose major cuts in bus transportation, which would disadvantage people without private cars and further road congestion, particularly at rush hour.

It makes sense to consider changes to routes that could increase ridership as well as integrate with the Purple Line and BRT, but any changes should seek to increase capacity and coverage is what we need. I would like to see WMATA and the County considering any shifts that might imitate the success that Houston has seen in implementing a grid layout of routes.

My husband and I have a single airbnb unit (legal) in our house. Most of our guests are interns and visiting scientists at NIH. They depend on the J2 bus. In order to keep our house, we depend on the income from our unit. With no bus service, we may cease to attract guests and we could be forced to sell our house. The county should support, not undermine the presence of NIH. It brings income, prestige and talented people to our county. Cutting bus service undermines all that. Michaele Weissman
