The streets of Brighton Le Sands are already congested and a shortage of parking is a major issue. It is also a gross over development of the site. It will impact negatively on people's quality of life. It must not go ahead.

The proposed building is an abomination to the existing residence of the communist and potential residence of the building. The proposed building is suitable for rats not people leaving in cages. Rockdale council must not approve this application.

Over development in this area will cause many problems like less street parking for residents, over crowding the residential area and doesn't help to maintain a sustainable environment which will impact on the residents welfare.

This 11 story boarding home should not be approved.
There is enough crime ,traffic and trouble in our neighbourhood.
A 88 room boardinghouse would be an eyesore and create more trouble.

Being a house owner/rate payer for thirty six (36) years in Roslyn Ave Brighton, I am discusted and dismayed that an eleven (11) story development is even being considered for Bay Street., BLS. We the Brighton community loose all our parking on the weekends/every weekend regardless Both winter and summer months to out of suburb visitors, this development means less street parking for pre existing residents 24/7, not to mention the strain on local government services, eg schools,public transport, health services (local doctors) & food supply, we have one (1) food supplier (Coles) in the area which often carnt keep up with local resident, local Business & weekend demand on necessities like water,bread & milk.
22 proposed car spaces on site is absolutely non viable, the negative impact on existing infrastructure would be mandatory.... It's not all about Money is it Rockdale Council, it should be about community safety, welfare & quality of ones life. Author Sandra Gates

This is an interesting petition. Obviously the real issue is about the height of the building but it is projected around undesriable people moving into the neighbourhood and fear mongering to gain signatures. Essentially everyone signing this petition would not be happy if it were a boarding house or 8 floors of million dollar apartments. Therefore I don't know why we are further stigmatising people who are trying to get back on their feet. It's really low. I have just moved to Bay Street and the Saturday night crew that come roaring down the streets are undesriable, but we are not about to close the street every weekend. Food for thought. The lady above is right. It is at a state level. There is a push to disperse social housing moving forward to stop clusters of crime neighbourhoods.

There is no place for a boarding house development on bay st. These types of developments belong in the inner city with higher density highly populated areas. Not near families or schools. We don't want crime here or need more cars clogging up Brighton. This is not the future I imagined for Brighton!

What happened to the so called jewel in the crown that Brghton-Le -Sands was once called by Rockdale council? Now it will be an ugly high density slum.Shame.

This has to stop. We are already congested..absolutely no parking available on a good day...loss of revenue for the local shops...we need to beautify Brighton..not put up any development that props us

The person to contact is Fiona Prodromou 9562 1672..she is the town planner who is looking at it.
I rang her. She said it is not council who will be making the decision but it is on a state level - I think she said the Sydney Planning committee.
You can ring her or email her at [email protected] and put to Attention : Fiona Prodromou.
She said that in the petition you need to put valikd reasons e.g. parking problems..that is what they will look for...
