NO to the development of the Boarding House in Bay St - please. There is already enough crime, traffic and trouble in beautiful Brighton Le Sands that we are so proud of. We have recently moved in the area as retirees - a place we have always dreamed to spend the rest of our lives in. Instead of a boarding house why not provide more parking facilities. We so lack parking for anyone visiting the area - it is a nightmare. Spend money in the area wisely. We do not want a Boarding House - we want a safe crime free environment , we want traffic problems fixed and we want more parking facilities - PLEASE!

An abomination, I couldn,t believe my eyes when I saw it published in The Leader. Have lived in Brighton for 40 years, it is a lovely place and safe place to live. Don not ruin it!

Brighton-Le -Sands is a beautiful and family orientated suburb. Our Streets are already congested and stuffy. We don't need this structure in our suburb! We do't want to be the next Bondi!!! I want my family and my child to feel safe and to grow up in type of environment that we are used to, and living at the moment.

This proposed development is hardly believable in this day and age. It is unrealistic to think that such a building would be occupied by other than persons of low socio-economic means. Where is the social and physical infrastructure to support such a situation? What are the councils proposals in this regard? Or do the burghers of Rockdale council think that the 88+ occupants will devise their own social entertainments. Perhaps they will and the outcome may well be higher crime rates in the neighborhood. Just what we, the ratepayers of Rockdale, need. I can say these things as they are evidenced by past failed experiments in social housing, building ghettos - a number of Sydney inner suburbs and outer fringe suburbs come readily to mind. The revised social thinking on these is that there needs to be diversity in housing development so that those of lower socio economic means have the opportunity to dwell in 'normalised' environments, not be herded into what would become a hell-hole of 88 rooms with only parking for 22 vehicles. This in a suburb with appallingly bad public transport options. So the question begs: who devised this plan? who stands to benefit? Why would a council countenance a proposal that is so totally out of date in terms of social welfare policies, and for which it is entirely foreseeable that will in the future require considerable council and state resources to support and even remediate?

Our council previously asked for ideas we would like to see in our shopping precinct. I'm sure no one wanted a boarding house! Our beautiful seaside suburb needs to keep that feel to maintain the family friendly feel all come to enjoy. Imagine our wonderful new year celebrations the council so wonderfully arranges to be tainted by potential crime or violence. Why not just build another car park over the shop fronts even.that would be more appealing than a sky rise. It could even generate money for council. Thankyou for your time and please listen to the community.

The proposed building does not fit in with the character and 'look' of the social strip of Brighton-Le-Sands. A building of this type will bring a different expression to the area and will not enhance the general ambience of the area. This building will not attract visitors into the area. Brighton-Le-Sands is at the moment one of the top spots to go to when people want to socialise. Please do not jeopardise the social atmosphere that Brighton-Le-Sands has built over the years.

Please consider the major impact on our parking and roads introducing a building of this size with minimal parking facilities for the occupants. We already have major issues with parking now. Please don't make the matters worse by introducing a building that does not fit the pleasant and welcoming atmosphere of Brighton-Le-Sands. Thank you.
