Stop the boarding house 48 McLachlan Ave Long Jetty

I would prefer to look at the eyesore that is there than have that type of development built.

Doesn't seem like a sound solution to the housing problem for the potential inhabitants, or the existing residents, especially given recent experiences with similar circumstances. It won't work for either party but might work for the developer.

I’ve seen this eye sore ... it needs to be knocked down and made as a normal residential block or proper dept of housing with select residence .. I agree with others that this is overcrowding and no doubt the wrong sort of people, if it were flats that had plenty of parking operated by the Dept of housing it would be a knock down and proper construction ... Developer is this instance is concerned about one thing profit not community

I am extremely concerned about the proposed development at 48 McLachlan Ave Long Jetty. I think it is the wrong development in the wrong place. This is a lovely area where families with young children live and play. To place a development of this sort (which council cannot predict the type of residents who will be using this facility) in the middle of a suburb that is home to families with young children is outrageous. The following points are what concerns me: - Who will be the clients or residents of this development? - It does not fit the character of the lovely neighbourhood. - 8 units will conceivably result in at least 16 residents. Each of which will have a car. Potential for 16 cars, and they want your permission to have only 3 parking spots. THAT IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. - The DA references emergency housing and possibly working with the NDIS. These clients will be requiring support services who will also require parking spaces. All this on a small residential block. - Lindsay St is already experiencing large volumes of traffic. The area cannot tolerate such intensive housing. - My family ride bikes and walk dogs along these streets. More vehicle movements will increase the risk to pedestrian and bicycle safety. -If the facility is used with clients from NDIS, how is one disabled parking spot going to meet their needs. - I understand the existing building is to be kept as part of the development. This has to be a joke! It should be demolished as it is a bloody eyesore.

I believe underpriviedged should not be congregated in one small area like this. They should be spread around so they adapt to a more normal society. by putting so may together like this, bad habits form.

Surely this plot of land is totally unsuitable for the proposed development. The size of the land alone for a dwelling of 8 self contained rooms not to mention the parking is totally unexceptionable. This DA would be going backwards into the bad old days of Long Jetty's reputation of crime and antisocial behavior. There is already too many affordable/emergency accommodation in Long Jetty within meters of 48 Mcachlan Ave, Long Jetty

Long Jetty has worked hard over the years to improve its profile, this would be a backward step

Ridiculous idea

This is not what we need in our community. This is a suburban area that can no facilitate this many people and it is no where near adequate public transport

Long Jetty already have so many similar places turned into this type of accommodation, the Buccaneer and the motel on the corner of Wyong Rd. Long Jetty residents have worked long and hard to lift its profile after the historical bad rep from the methodone clinic etc and now at last our beautiful area is safe as well as emerging as a very quirky and desirable suburb. This boarding house would drag it right down. Terrible idea

I am very strongly opposed to this ridiculous development.

Surely block size and zoning are enough for this not to be approved! We already have units in Bonnieview Street and seedy flats in Capitan Cook Cres, the old hotel on the main road now turned into rentals. There is also already a group of "affordable housing" just near the proposed boarding house. All these are on much bigger block sizes not a normal residential sized block. We don't need more in the area. Personally I feel it should just be knocked down and setback off the boundary and a nice duplex built with dual street access. Surely that would be a more profitable return and keep the value of houses in the area rising. With the growth the suburb experience in the last 5 years it would be a shame to see the area get back it's dingy rep!

Unsuitable development for the area - we will be lodging a submission to Council.

Must be stopped this is a family area, I'm sure there's other places it could be done!!

This is not the place for a half way house. Apart from the huge concerns with the extra traffic it is a family area with kids and the type of people who need a halfway house might not be the type of people that children need to be around and there is a bus stop right there that the kids would be using. I just don't believe this is the right place. Long Jetty is just getting over it's bad rep ...to do with drugs....these types of places need to be near facilities like hospitals, railway stations not in a residential area.

I believe we don’t need to have a boarding house in Long Jetty as it would drug problems into the area.

Please do not approve this boarding house.

We don’t want our area ruined by something like this housing the wrong type of people in a nice street like ours!

Long Jetty is finally getting over the "meth clinic" stigma and is moving forward with nice shops and cafes. Build these boarding houses closer to train stations where there is easy public transport to more job opportunities so these "boarders" can save to buy in a nice area like Long Jetty like we all have - with hard earned work.

Only a residential block and area - completely out of character for the area
