Stop the ban on event shelters at Green Man

There is no need for this rule change . There’s has always been surplus space on the settlers site

To festival organisers: please revoke this ban which prevents people on normal incomes being able to enjoy the festival. We attend most years and with the week's settlers pass. Gazebos & shelters enable us to cook and take shelter from the often rainy weather, and in the company of a small group of friends met there and we go with each year, in fact we bought a shared shelter for this purpose. This aspect allows us to be able to reduce waste by sharing food and utensils and makes the stay an affordable, and social experience. Without the use of these, we cannot afford the festival, restricts our ability to share, cook, and keep the areas clean from waste (by reducing the amount of take-away food) and prevents friends with children being able to come together. I hope you feel able to change your decision on this. Thank you.

I’ve attended Green Man since 2006 and find this ban short sighted. No shelter from the weather means no communal space which is a large part of the experience for the big group of friends we attend with. Very unlikely to go with this ban in place

I can't fathom how GM have come to this ridiculous decision. Try cooking in the pouring rain without a shelter? Nowhere to hang out with your mates even if you are there for a whole week. Money talks! If this isn't reversed I know a lot of regular loyal attendees who won't go.

Really disappointed with this. With a small child in tow, an event shelter is essential. Especially when the weather is so undependable. I have loved attending GM come what may weather wise, but this is really making me reconsider. It makes me think this is more about money making and less about the environment.

I think most of it has been said by others already, but this ban will have the least impact on childless people without disabilities and with enough money to buy all their meals. It will have the greatest impact on those with responsibility for younger children, especially single parents, those on lower incomes who need their own cooking facilities and people who depend on the company of others to enjoy, rather than just survive the festival. I really thought that this was a festival that had equality at its core, but this rule is discriminatory.

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!! I HAVE BEEN COMING SINCE I WAS 3 AND I HAVE NEVER HEARD SUCH STUPIDITY IN THE 11 YEARS I HAVE ATTENDED!!

After 10 wonderful years, the ban on gazebos means I will not be attending for number 11.

We need our communal space in the Welsh weather!!!

Terrible, bad, awful, ludicrous decision especially for settlers. Outside living is part of what settlers is all about isn’t it? Who wants to camp for a week without shelter from the weather and somewhere to cook? We cannot cook and store things without a gazebo? We have camped for 6 years in settlers and NEVER have we seen gazebos left behind, (Actually, one broken one once). People don’t just leave their events shelters behind, I don’t believe that for one minute. For us settlers they are an essential piece of camping equipment. For a weekend festival, I wouldn’t mind, for a festival that offers a settlers pass, I don’t understand this ridiculous decision.

One shelter keeps our three families dry each year. We cook under our modest gazebo and the kids keep dry. As a Settler who goes every year I'm absolutely gutted by this. Please reconsider!

Completely ridiculous to ban event shelters especially in the settlers camp. Who wants to camp for a whole week without shelter from the weather and somewhere to cook?!?

Can’t believe the decision to ban shelters!!! I have been coming to Greenman for many years and look forward to each year with great excitement. Greenman is definitely the best festival around. Please don’t take away the whole relaxed and communal feel of the festival by banning, what is, an important fundamental part of the experience.

As a regular GMer, having that space for friends and young family to congregate is invaluable and a massive plus to the quality of the festival. Not having it will really reduce the great atmosphere and make it difficult for families. Please please reconsider.

We are a group of around 18 people who come to Green Man every year - we use an event shelter for our communal kitchen / lounging area where we’ve spent many an hour - I thought community was what Green Man prided itself on!

We would never leave our shelter behind!! We use it as a fantastic communal space to cook and eat together as a large group during settlers....Offers much needed shelter and shade.......on both wet and sunny days......Have been a settler for many years but this would change the wonderful atmosphere we so love about GM - please review this crazy decision!!

I have been going to GM for 8 years now and have always applauded the impeccable organisation of the festival. But this just seems like a bad decision which will detract from the convivial atmosphere and leave us wet! As others have pointed out rain is a regular visitor at Glanusk.

Please urgently reconsider your decision. The joy of Greenman is families enjoying themselves in a safe environment with shelters should the weather be inclement.
