This is disappointing, we have started to bring two tiny tents and one shelter for five. Easy to slot in if we have to work around other tents and it works in the rain. And we’re usually with friends so share gazebo space.
So... now we’ll be bringing the massive family tent, or not coming.

Greenman won't be the same without our event shelters. We won't be buying 2020 tickets, unless the ban is lifted

This is an absolute insult and contradiction to promoting a family festival to loyal GreenMan followers! Please reconsider this GM or we won’t be able to come for what would be our 7th time.

We've been coming to Green Man as a group for years and this would ruin our experience. It also means that we'll all need to bring huge tents to shelter from the inevitable rain, thereby taking up far more space then one gazebo and a few small tents. Please, please reconsider. We've always felt that this festival offers such a unique experience - don't become like all the others! X

Have been a loyal GMer since 2007. We love coming for the whole week in Settlers. We are from Abergavenny but live away. We get to see close ones and spend quality time back home. In addition we have made life long friends from all places and walks of life and have around 15ish friend groups that we see away from GM. That wouldn’t have happened without torrential rain and a communal gazebo. What can you do without a gazebo? Sit in your tent....
I feel for those turning up on a Thursday, tired from work. But you can’t complain there’s not a spot for you where you want it! So much room further down the field. Settlers was always about coming for the whole week and immerse yourself in local culture, food, drink, activities and walking in beautiful scenery! You can’t complain if you’re late to the party. Coz it’s now spoiling it for the rest of us...

Have you REALLY thought it though? You cannot deny groups the communal experience and protection from the elements these shelters provide.

Please don’t do this. We are a group if 35 and a mixture of old and very young. It means that those who come are going to bring bigger tents so there is space to cook and gather to eat and shelter when it rains. This would actually increase the space used. It doesn’t make sense to ban shelters. If for environmental reasons then a permit and a fine for those leaving them behind may prove more effective. Five people have already said that they are not coming next year. Please change this ban.

Without our event shelter this year my whole family would have left site by Friday evening due to the weather.
