We are responsible adults in our 50s who always take our stuff home with us.There must be a way of sorting this out without a ban.With the Welsh weather being what it us you need shelter to have a sit and chill with mates.Not allowing them would definately impinge on our enjoyment.Thank you

I have attended EVERY SINGLE GREEN MAN festival. Event shelters/ Gazebo s arent "bad" in many cases such as Family and Accessibility groups they are vital. They are used for multiple purposes including food preparation and eating as well as shelter and vital rest.
The banning is authoritarian and WRONG!

I understand the ruling but surely a little leniency could be observed in regards to families with children who need somewhere dry/sheltered for down time?

One of the joys of the festival is being able to reconvene back at basecamp in the (inevitable) rain and listen to the sounds of the festival whilst kicking back with friends. Equally, it's not practicable from a logistics perspective when you need to set up camp for 4-7 days. Are we all meant to now have to buy a new awning structure which falls within the rules?

The event shelter ban will make it much harder for those of us with young families to enjoy the festival. We’ve been coming to the festival for years and have had a lot of fun with family and friends in a big group under the event shelter whatever the weather. I hope GM20 see fit to change this silly decision.

We have been coming to Green Man as a family every year for the last 6. We have been staying in settlers for the week and our 3 daughters refer to it as their spiritual home. For the first time we are looking elsewhere; this has sadly completely taken the shine off the whole experience - we absolutely loved the social aspect of camping with extended family & friends old and new in this way - with the events shelter being at the centre of being able to do so in a large group with such unpredictable weather. Surely there must be a better way for Green Man to manage the space than this? We certainly didn't ever see abandoned events shelters - they are too expensive for that! So sorry to see it is ending up like this. Please reconsider such an unwelcoming decision.

We squeezed 17 people under one event shelter this year during the rainy parts of the week. Next year are we all supposed to huddle in our own tents and not speak to each other?

A great way to alienate many of your traditional crowd. Are you so desperate to herd everyone into the festival site to spend money? You've made a poor decision that, regardless of your true motives, has many of us who love the festival questioning your intentions for the very first time ever. BBC just reversed the Naga Munchetty ruling today - there is precedent to reverse a bad call....

Big mistake to ban them. Many people use the week as their main holiday and the event shelter gives extra comfort to those. Dont get greedy wanting more tents many of those that have event shelters have been coming for many years.

This decision really upsets me, done the last five years and loved the community vibe that shelters provide, what a buzz kill. Despite boycotting from newbies and regulars the tickets will probably still sell out, GM can sit back and watch this blow over.

Don't put the scrooge in your humbug. As a local in Talgarth we welcome the festival and campers. For people who camp for a week of course they deserve access to an event shelter. I've made the best festival friends around event shelters. No issues here. Stopping event shelters is no means a way to increase event capacity. It just shows the festival isn't listening to those who make it such a success.

Really upset by this decision. I have health issues which are not severe enough for accessible camping area but do impact my daily life. The event shelter is a place I can sit and recuperate and also cook meals. I have dietary restrictions which were much harder than previous years to buy for on site. The environmental issue is nonsense. Nobody leaves an event shelter that has cost £150+

Removing gazebos and event shelters from Green Man also removes the social aspect of camping as a group, especially for those of us who stay for the whole week. It makes cooking food far more difficult and means we feel our Green Man days are behind us. The prospect of keeping 2 children under 5 entertained when the rain inevitably hits (hello great British summer!) is not an attractive one. Attending GM has always been a social, group activity for us and this move will completely kill that off. If the side effect of this ban is that ‘maximising camping space’ is another way of increasing capacity and income, I’d genuinely orefer a price increase and keep the capacity as it is.
