Day in and day out I am plagued by an influx of a terrible Internet trend. Accounts posting photos of people, bullying them, and telling innocent individuals to kill themselves. This type of cyber harassment is not only disturbing but also something that does not have real visual punishments. It is asinine to believe that this is an acceptable form of bullying that is not taken more seriously by social media websites who provide a platform for these bullies to treat people in such a vicious way. There is no way to know if someone who is targeted may be an at risk human being that can be horribly influenced by these messages of bate. My purpose of this petition is to show Instagram that they as a company should create a set of consequences for perpetrators of this henious act to prevent others from being able to post things like this and to save victims from ever having to encounter it again. Instagram; mental illness is not a spectator sport and when will something be done? Please don't wait until it's too late and your social media site is on the news for being a platform in which some ones self harm and/or suicide is influenced.
