Steyn Attorneys has been stealing money from vulnerable consumers for years by charging massively excessive legal fees on minor debt collection matters.

Complaints have been laid with the Law Society, the National Credit Regulator and the Council for Debt Collectors, but not enough has been done.

Sign this petition to show the regulators we mean business and demand that Steyn Attorneys be investigated and stopped.

The more signatures we get, the more noise we can make to let the Law Society know that we will not stand by while attorneys abuse the law to exploit vulnerable consumers.

I am honestly overwhelmed by the momentum behind this because it was never something I imagined would grow this quickly. All of this energy belongs to you and the courage you have shown by speaking up against these practices.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have stepped up to call out this injustice. We are almost at five hundred signatures and that momentum belongs entirely to the people who chose to speak out. Please keep pushing so we can show the regulators that this issue demands their full attention.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have stepped up to call out these practices. We are nearing one hundred signatures and this momentum belongs entirely to the people who refuse to look the other way. Please keep talking about this because your visibility is the only reason this issue is finally starting to get some attention.

I am a victim of extortion by legal attorneys due to debt repayment. I was only owing R1000 and was intimidated and bullied into paying almost R3000. I support the Stop Steyn Attorneys campaign.

Unscrupulous attorneys abuse the court process to prey on defenseless poor people. Some deliberately send summonses to fictitious addresses and then get default judgement. From there they proceed to garnish the person knowing that the employer would be obliged to deduct the money. They must be stopped

Absolutely unbelievable how unscrupulous some people are. Attorneys should uphold the law, not break it. LSSA needs to act against these attorneys now before anyone else suffers!

This is such gross exploitation of people who probably can't even afford this. These Steyn Attorneys give all attorneys a bad name and unfortunately too many attorneys overcharge on undefended matters!

This is horrible. How do these people sleep at night? Just recovered from debt rehabilitation where a debt collector also inflated the amount and I know how it feels. Shame on them!!

Thank you for stepping up and taking responsibility. As lay person and financially not able to challenge lawyers that collects debts we are getting poorer by the day and not making ends meet. It is time that someone stood up for people like us.

I am in the same position as stated in the blog. In 2010 Steyn attorneys sent a garnishee to my then employer, Lonmin mine for the apparent debt of R8000 from a cashloan institution in Rustenburg. 6 deductions of R2500 has been taken from my salary, totaling R15000, before I lost my job on the mine. I was recently employed by Ampath in Klerksdorp, and lo and behold, they served the same garnishee on my current employer, with a ludicrous statement that I still owe in excess of R14000. My employer has already paid over 2 installments starting September 2018 and I cannot afford the attorney fees to stop it from going off from my salary end of November
