Stop the Southpointe Development on Grand Island!

Too much destruction of the Island - taking all wild life habitats

Already too much development going on. We are slowly turning a great rural gem, and a very unique place to live into another overcrowded Buffalo suburb.

Stop building new homes! We need more grocery stores etc. We dont need anymore people on this island.

Grand Island is VERY important in mainteaining the balance of The Eco System. . . such a large project as this, would skew EVERYTHING! Flora & fauna!

Enough!!! Why do deveopers who got permission 20+ years ago would maintain that permission now????. Stop the outragous development of our home.

Stop Building. Start fixing . I cant speak for others but, I am pretty sure Islanders like to Island how it is. With out apartment complexes and more developments. #Keeptheislandgreen

I am 100% against this development as it stands. We need to protect the Green space and build responsibility.

Life Long Island resident. I am whole heartedly against this project. There’s been too much building and cutting and wildlife habitat destruction on the island already. Keep this town the quiet, unique and semi rural place that makes it so wonderful. No. More. Building

We already have too much development on the island with multiple empty building that could be revitalized for use. Plus Ido not want to see our wetlands and animals disappear.

Southpointe is just another of the many development schemes that are just dead wrong. And its too bad that a positive word like development is applied to these wrong headed activities. I think of it as eco destruction, and feel this term fits it better.

As a biologist who was heavily involved in the original Southpointe opposition, former member of the Conservation Commission, and active planner/scientist on other Grand Island Habitat Projects, I state the following. That tract of land is some of the last and best diverse habitat on the Island, providing a mix of marsh, swamp, creek, and upland forest and shrub/grassland, along with the accompanyiing desirable diversity of edge habitat. To destroy the integrity of this highly complex and intertwined environment would be an irresponsible and irretrievable travesty, especially when other far less sensitive and desirable tracts exist on Island. Further, this project is in opposition to every Master Plan concept we ever put forth on Grand Island, such plans favoring centralization of these types of endeavors.

Trees are precious don't distroy them.

Off-Island investors cannot be allowed free rein to develop every last acre of Grand Island without being stopped by responsible Island residents, Town Board members and the Town Supervisor. Investor/developers DO NOT have the final say in how our community develops, COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS DECIDE! Southpointe Development will profit the non-resident few as it makes our bridges even more problematic and reduces our hometown to concrete and traffic. STOP SOUTHPOINTE DEVELOPMENT. IT DOES NOT CONFORM TO PROPERTY RESIDENTS' CONCERNS AND WILL SCAR GRAND ISLAND FOR GENERATIONS TO COME. BE A GOOD LAND STEWARD. GET INVOLVED!

It would be devastating to lose the wild life on Grand Island to more development. Traffic has been slowly increasing and becoming a nuisance. The population will continue to increase from appartments and homes currently under construction on the Island. The road we reside on could not withstand increased traffic. Our green space has taken a large hit from the Emerald Ash Bore. It would be a tragedy to not protect what is left.

Please Do Not destroy the wetlands and green space that surround us. The Island does not need anymore buildings. We moved here to be in a rural area away from the city life. Please keep the green space we have left!!!

The Natural Beauty of Grand Island is something that can never be given back in it's current form if this development is permitted. I'm signing this because I strongly believe we must conserve and preserve natural lands and prevent over development. Many Grand Islanders have made excellent points about renovating and redeveloping existing properties on the island rather than create new developments that rob us and future generations of this pristine beauty.
