I oppose this fee. It will disproportionately harm staff and faculty members who make lower wages on our campus, and it will be prohibitive for many of our students. There *have* to be other places to look in the SMC budget for the money that this fee would raise.

The fees are too high. Fill the potholes and pave the lots. Paint lines. Then you can begin to talk about charging to park in the lots.

Knowing the cost of tuition, the number of enrolled students, and faculty/staff salaries at SMC, I can't help but wonder where all the money goes? It seems to me like there is financial mismanagement at the top. I would like more transparency regarding the college's budget and costs, especially as this is in line with the college's Lasallian values of inclusive community, respect for all persons, and social justice. It is unfair to push this parking fee on students who are already taking out massive loans to go here and faculty/staff with salaries that do not reflect the cost of living in the bay area.

If parking were a "problem" I could see adding some fee to deter people from driving to campus. Still, I have not heard that it is a problem this year therefore the campus should find other ways to make money rather than charging the people who work here and those that pay a high cost for tuition.

I work as an administrative assistant, and my salary is barely enough to make ends meet with the cost of living here in California. I find it absolutely outrageous that I am being charged $300 to pay for parking on the main campus.
In addition, my office is in the Rheem Campus, and I barely get an opportunity to come to campus. Why should I have to pay $300 for a parking pass when I rarely go to campus? It just seems like a waste of money.
Lastly, I work in the Development Office, where a majority of time is spent acknowledging donors who have contributed significantly to this institution, not to mention processing thousands of dollars in the accounting books before I can see a single dime in my paycheck. I personally think I, along with my colleagues in my department should get a break for all the hard work we put into the College not only for our students, but salaries to all those employed at this institution.

Parking fees are not a viable way to either reduce traffic/parking on campus, but especially in this financial climate it is wrong and disrespectful to levy further financial burden on faculty and staff.

The administration cannot expect all of its students and faculty to pay $300 a year for parking, especially with the increase in tuition. SMC's location is not easily accessible by public transportation. Many students must commute to class because living on campus is another cost not all students can afford.

A flat fee for parking that doesn't take wages, salary, and financial aid into account is unjustly biased in favor of the SMC community members at the higher end of the compensation scale. I work here because I feel I'm making a difference, but I also took a huge pay cut in the process ...
