This school is already expensive. They don't give enough financial aid and on top of that they want to charge a $300 parking fee? First of all, come up with more parking spots for students instead of charging students extra money. MAYBE LEARN HOW TO USE MY TUITION MONEY PROPERLY FOR ONCE TOWARDS something that actually benefits students. And maybe consider the definition of a "visitor" at this campus.

This parking fee is disgusting. Making higher education even more inaccessible, especially to low-income students. Living on campus is already unaffordable and so many student choose to commute. This is an attack on commuters! WHAT HAPPENED TO CONCERN FOR THE POOR? WHAT HAPPENED TO INCLUSIVITY? SMC, LIVE BY THE VALUES YOU USE TO ATTRACT DIVERSE STUDENTS INTO YOUR SCHOOL. You can do better.

Instead of charging for parking to reduce the amount of vehicles on campus, first years should not be allowed to have a car.

This across the board parking fee will disproportionately harm our students, contingent faculty, staff, as well as junior TT faculty members. If this fee is to move forward will the College be investing in public transportation to provide better access to a school that is nestled in one of the most expensive communities in the Bay? Will bus transportation now be available to our campus community over the weekend? I look forward to ongoing dialogue around public transportation, equity and access, and campus culture. Best, MJV

Aside from this fee being a ridiculous charge at an institution that is so expensive (where most students depends almost exclusively to FA), the parking infrastructure is total crap. Neither as a student or faculty/staff are you guaranteed parking on any given weekday between the hours of 7am and 7pm. Perhaps start by making parking a stable resource and one that does not waiver in availability and practicality (like having to park in the Upper Agenos when you need to be in Galileo).

This is utter crock, I don’t think any sane person supports the parking fee

Staff salaries are already low, with no cost of living increases from the College recently. And, tuition is already extremely high. Does the college want to risk losing good employees who can barely make a living in the bay area on their salaries by imposing an additional charge to come to work? And, does the college want to see enrollment drop, because they just imposed another fee on top of the tuition for students? I think it would make more sense for the college to look at unnecessary expenses like the Holiday party (which is nice, but I'd rather let go of that then pay for parking), and heating the pool at the rec center year-around, etc.

I strongly support an income-based approach to parking fees, along with careful consideration of where fees may be inappropriate, including disabled parking, parking for residents, and similar situations.

This is simply a proposal to lower our salaries across the board.

A key consequence of a parking fee is that any increase in supply (caused by charging students and staff) will disproportionately benefit the faculty.

Instead of charging students for extra money, the school should definitely start thinking of other ways to effectively fundraise. This is absolutely ridiculous... our tuition has already been raised and most of our students don’t even pay full tuition, so they obviously don’t have the financial stability to be paying extra fees. This is very unlasallian of Saint Mary’s.

There is no reason whatsoever to charge $60,000/year just to attend and live on your campus, and then add a $300 parking fee on top of it. It's ridiculous, stop with the greed.
