Stop Sir John Thursby School removing muslim girls headscarf

Sjt dont use "modesty" as an excuse if it was the scarfs would be longer as you know it should be long enough to cover our cleavage and chest in my religion its not just about the hair this is really frustrating us girls now, yes its not about the appearance but its not even doing any "modesty", its not hiding our chest and its humiliating and disgraceful, bro ya need to sort this bs outt. X

The fact that the school is asking students to remove their scarfs or making them were scarfs that may be considered immodest, not only breaks their right to practise their religion, but also breaks many basic human rights which come under the Human Rights Act 1998. For example the school is breaching the students right to freedom of religion, freedom of belief, freedom of expression, freedom of thought etc. Sign the petiton and protect the rights of one another!!

Please stop them from doing this, it's truly terrible, and people should be allowed to practice their own religions without fear anywhere and everywhere.

I think the new scarf rule is a disgrace to the girls because the whole point in wearing a scarf is so that it can cover their chest.

Hello fellow pupil, thankyou for your 'well though through' comment on this whole situation. First And foremost I would like to say that there is no 'regardless of the scarf' if that scarf doesn't even adhere to what it's sole purpose is; that being covering the hair and neck fully. If this scarf had done this nothing as such would have occurred at all. All these scarves are one size, and if you think carefully, "one size fits all" would not really work in a school with students from the ages of 11 right up to 16. In response to your second point, the fact that in a school that says "the students opinion matters" And "teachers and students have to work together to make sure this school is the best it can be" , such a big decision was made without consulting either the students even their parents. If such had happened and both students and teachers came to a decision simultaneously then no such ordeal would have had to be faced today. I respect your opinions and this matter but would strongly suggest understanding the topic fully before comming up to any conclusions in the future. Thank you.

I am against this new headscarf policy. This is the first time I am hearing about this type of rule in a school.

It's wrong for teachers , schools and anything to discriminate and take other people's right to a scarf

People should be free to be able to wear as they please!! A headscarf isn't hurting anybody and this rule is frankly ridiculous!

There is enough division in society, & this does not make the transition from adolescence into Adulthood easy for young females to be stripped from freedom of right and choice, something that every HUMAN is entitled to.

A choice of wearing what you want is a constitutional privilege providing isnt offensive to others. To stop an individual wearing a scarfe of there choice is absurd to say the least

I used to attend this school and Im dismayed they have decided to go down this route, especially without consulting the students who are affected.Very disappointed.

Wearing a headscarf is part of our religion and that should be respected not banned
