parents and community leaders should be consulted on this matter before a decision is made. if they want it to be for children to look smart etc i am sure they can specify a colour and students to adhere to that but to remove headscarves and giving them an ultimatum is preposterous.

The parents and community leaders/Imams should have been consulted by the School/Authorities. I do not know the exact facts to how this school rule change came about in the first place as a parent I have had a lot of respect for the school/headteacher and how well they had managed the school and achieved brilliantly as a two way team. I believe this matter should be dealt with fairly and responsibly by both sides and that the headscarf should be allowed to those girls wishing to wear it by choice. I hope diaologue will begin as they are no winners from both sides. In fact both sides are losing and education for our children in a good happy environment is important

THIS IS VILE AND EXTREMELY UPSETTING,SOME OF THESE GIRLS ARE FEELING VICTIMISED TOWARDS THIS,NOWHERE, NOONE SHOULD FEEL TARGETED ESPECIALLY IN A SCHOOL ENVIROMENT WHERE ITS IS SUPPOESED TO BE 'RESPECTFUL' 'SAFE'.HONESTKY ITS POINTLESS !

This is an infringement of human rights.
If this is the case all non headscarf girls should wear there hair exactly the same way, same bobbles and clips. It's not promoting individuals.
It is also taking the school back decades, there appears to be predjudice and this was obviously not discussed with parents.
This should be taken higher.

I will not allow my daughter to go sir John Thursby with out scarf.
My daughter going to start high school this year and she is so upset.

What happend to freedom of speech, a nun wears a veil, if u had a nun visitor would you tell her to take off the scarf too and wear a cap?
