Knowledge is ungendered - and the last time I checked, that's what our children go to school to grow. Teach them that they're capable of anything, regardless of how they identify, and that the clothes they lay out the night before do not define, determin or limit their potential.

As an ex pupil and proud feminist this disgusts me. Do not shame your female pupils into thinking they are indecent, I witnessed this enough from some of your male teachers. Your institution should know the uncomfortable position adolescent girls are put in and you should be ashamed for wishing to enforce this rule. Skirts are not indecent, your misosgyny is.

I've been told I am not allowed to wear a skirt because it is unfair on males around the school. I've been told my calfs are distracring for males. I've been told that I need to change the way I look. I've been told that it is okay for young girls to be sexualised. I've been told I am in the wrong, it's not the male teachers that find it hard to concentrate around young girls fault. I'm 17 years old and I live in a developed country and this is what I am taught in school. Gender equality is what the school should be teaching, not that I have to wear trousers and take away another part of my freedom to wear what I want in order to gain the same respect as males

When I went to this school, 'bout 7 years ago now, there was an assembly out on the sports area. At the end the boys were told they could go and all the girls in the year were to to stay where they were. The girls were then given a lecture about making sure their skirts were long enough, that their buttons were all done up, that they weren't wearing make up because it was distracting to other students and made teachers uncomfortable. At the time I didn't understand why I was so annoyed about this, but now ten years on I still remember it. Stop wasting girls' time and resources on other peoples' preferences!

I think every girl should have to the right to wear what they please, Girls shouldn't change the way they look cause men/boys are getting distracted im sorry if your in school your eyes should be at the board listening to your teacher and getting some sort of education, I thought equality was meant to be happening now like in every school and out of school but I guess just proves a lot about sharnbrook another reason why I hate that school

I am shocked to learn in this day and age a forward thinking progressive school is banning skirts. What message are you trying to send? It would be very interesting to see how the data was obtained to understand how the governing body came to make this rash pathetic decision.

This reflects real life and what happens in the work place. In every office I have ever worked in or visited women have been banned from wearing skirts and dresses. Especially in the public sector. NOT!!
