As a concerned citizen of a neutral country, namely the Republic of Ireland and in light of the tensions now developing on the world wide stage, I call on you, Simon Coventry, as Minister of Foreign Affairs, to once and for all, end all use of Shannon airport by American military aircraft.The violation of international law by President Trump has sent a a wave of fear throughout the world and will inevitably lead to retaliation by Iran. By allowing the use of our airport by the US military we could legitimately by seen as aiding and abetting the wishes of Trump and his administration, thus bringing the wrath of a revenge attack onto our soil.
As a nation, we have prided ourselves on our neutrality and our independent thinking and this has ensured our place as a country internationally respected. The use of Shannon airport however, by a large power serving its own interests, is a blight on that image and in fact puts Ireland in danger of being a target in the event of any escalation of conflict.Please take the safety of our citizens as paramount rather than acquiescing to the selfish agenda of a large power, driven by a man avoiding his impeachment.
