Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

Public parks should not be used to house the homeless! That's what shelters are for! We have a hard enough time in today's society protecting our children from exposure to drugs and crime which tend to run rampant within homeless camps.

Please do not go in this direction--it will be so much harder to undo the damage it will cause.

Allowing homeless to encamp in our parks is pandering to a few and ruining the environment for the many. Homeless have many options to get help, and if they choose not to avail themselves of assistance, that does NOT give them the right to loiter in public places which are meant to improve the quality of life for out citizens. Why should a few be allowed to turn our city into a slum and why does the City think it is OK to become Seattle's largest slum lord. All city council members and the Mayor should be paying penalties for allowing the slums to develop under the freeway ramps and along the freeway etc. It is gross negligence on the part of the City to allow the deterioration at such an egregious level. Private citizens would be prosecuted for such lawlessness.

Can't we learn anything from the mess in Portland?

This is not a solution but more of a problem and a safety issue. Our green spaces are our places of refuge.

They either take advantage of all the help offered or find elsewhere to be homeless. No camping anywhere.

This is a completely unacceptable proposal.City Council cannot be allowed to pass this.

We need adults running this city.

DON NOT TURN OUR PARKS INTO HOMELESS ENCAMPMENTS. Find another way, another source of space. What about surplus space after projects or substations that are no more... this is a bad idea and I won't vote for anyone who makes this happen.

Who did come up w/ this outrageous idea? Parks are for recreation to all people not a homeless shelter. If this crazy idea go through we are going to end up w-unsafe, dirty smelly parks.Already some places where homeless are - messy, dirty , looks like junkyard. Before thinking and deciding of s. thinks like that they should have drive around the city w/ they eyes wide open and look how homeless keeping they places . For example Drive I-5 N between 45 and Northgate exits or even rite of the 55 exit or gas works park and you tell me if that's how you want our parks to look like? You letting soo many homes empty to rott why not to turn them to shelters or turnone big field w/ fence around ,not wherever they feel like it. We want to turn Seattle to clean,safe place to live or we want to go backwards and turn this place to look like slams and third world, because in a long run even after few months that's what we're going to get.

Not a good solution. Not good for parks. Not good for neighborhoods.

Stop this insanity for our children's sake!

Camps in parks will diminish the use for which they were funded, designed and. Maintained. Parks have hours for a reason. Being closed at night have them ready for public use in the morning.

Parks are for the enjoyment of people, not for living there. There is a difference between a leisure place and a habitation place.

You have to be kidding with this legislation.

Please save our city, if you have any sense of pride or understanding of what the city was and could be, stop this.
