Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

I want to feel safe walking in a park alone. I work in pioneer square so I see plenty of homeless every day. I also know most are kind and harmless but I've also come across homeless people who are mental unstable and have threatened me. I don't want that to happen in a place I enjoy.

Seattle removed garbage collection from most city parks. Now you want THIS!!! NO WAY!!!

This proposed legislation is absurd and should be stopped before it gets started.

Don't let this happen

It's sad we have to sign a petition against such a preposterous bill!

Please do not vote for this until we have a better plan in place. We cannot have tents in our parks and on our soccer fields where our children are playing. This is not okay, we need to keep our green parks safe for children. With the crime, drugs and other safety issues, this cannot be permitted in parks and on soccer fields that our children play on.

Homeless people need help to get back on their feet, help with shelter, and maybe help with any addictions or mental illness, but carte blanche to camp in Seattle parks is not helping. Please do not allow this, instead, work with organizations to build tiny houses and developing programs to get homeless people back on their feet. We need to work to solve the problem, not allow it to grow. Thank you.

Don't turn our city respites into a bad idea, temporary solution to a problem that needs a long term solution.

Do not let the homeless camp in City Parks. There is a large lot available next to the Ballard Bridge. Great location.

This would be a terrible "theft" of a huge public asset for use other then what it was intended - AND would not solve the problem. Use our assets as they were intended when funded, find funding that will actually address the core problems.

Protect our public lands. Find other private land to rent or buy and put up the tiny houses. This is ridiculous.

The Council needs input from the voters. Slow down.

Typhoid, cholera, and tuberculosis do not care how much money is in your bank account, what color your skin is, or where you went to school. A vote to legalize medieval living conditions in the public spaces of one of the world's most beautiful cities is a vote for indiscriminate sickness and death.

It is inexcusable for our City Council to even consider this bill as it is written. They (the Council) continue to take away my property rights as a property tax payer, of peaceful and safe use of our sidewalks, parks and playgrounds. 3 personal incidences within the past two weeks (I live in Magnolia) ...1) person on the street reaches into his shirt, assuring me that "it is not a gun" then pulls out a rat and wants me to pet it. 2) Neighbor finds that a homeless person had been residing in their shed when they found him lying next to their car in the morning. 3) I personally engaged one of these homeless people in conversation to ask about their situation, thinking it may help me understand it better. When I asked him where he was from, his response was "New Orleans". When I asked him what brought him to Seattle, he responded with, "Services, all the services are free here". This HAS to stop NOW!!!

I'm signing for the safety of my kids and kids of our community who utilize Seattle parks daily.

NO CAMPERS! No more piles of garbage. This is no solution.

I am against allowing homeless people to camp in the parks. The easier that we make it to camp in the city, the more we will enable the homeless problem rather than solving the problem.

Stop the madness! Do not pass this bill that allows homeless to camp in the parks. The current policies and lack of enforcement has turned our city in to a filthy landscape of hazardous waste. It is okay for people to urinate and defecate in the streets, alleys, sidewalks, parks, etc. but you banned plastic bags!

I am against allowing homeless camps near city parks, schools, or other public amenities.
