Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

I wholeheartedly agree with the spirit of this petition.

This is a horrible idea and I hope the city council permanently rethinks their plans for dealing with Seattle's homeless population. This is an insult to city taxpayers, and sweeps the homeless problem under the rug.

This doesn't solve anything and will create more problems.

Seattle is an embarrassment! It was our life dream to move here and we made it happen and now we are just disgusted! We are moving away soon and I know many others doing the same!

Council Bill 118794 such an irresponsible piece of legislation that it boggles the mind. Neighborhoods, families, and sports teams will feel the direct and negative impacts if we don't act now to stop our council members from pursuing the course of action.

This cannot happen. If homeless are allowed to camp on Public Places it will begin to erode away at many of the beninfits and reasons tax payers choose to live here in Seattle. It creates risk and destroys property.

Most people who use the parks cannot afford home that have large, if any, outside area to relax and play. We use the parks like pur backyard. Do not take this away from us!

The $250 fine is totally OFF KILTER! - WHY would each homeless person be entitled to this unprecedented windfall? This would become a better deal than pan-handling or selling drugs!

I am a very liberal tax payer and love living in downtown Seattle. Parks are meant to be a safe comfortable area to relax enjoy nature . Allowing homeless residences in parks would eliminate the peaceful enjoyment of our beautiful public parks. Why have parks if they can be used as public campgrounds. Who will monitor them to keep them clean and patrolled? I see this becoming an unmanageable problem. this would not help the city, it would make our public parks feel dangerous and uncomfortable for singles and families. Please reconsider and think of our beautiful city.

I do not let my kids in stranger's houses. Please not turn our open spaces into a stranger's house.

City Council needs to get to work. We just passed a bill for affordable housing. Making city parks free-for-all camp sites doesn't actually help the homeless or the community.

Our parks and sidewalks are not appropriate places for the homeless. Families will no longer be safe with parks that are littered with used needles, condoms, and the associated activities.

We need to provide housing and services for the homeless. This is not the solution.

This law infuriates me

city council of Seattle is a bunch of incompetent people, taking the irresponsible decisions. Portland failed on that bill, but it is not a lesson to city council of Seattle. I support Tim Burgess and voters.

I'm appalled a our Seattle City Council's support of this bill and will make it my personal mission to get everyone I know to vote them all out of office if they pass this legislation.

Do not allow camping in our parks and public spaces!
