A similar plan failed in Portland after only two months. Seattle City Council has not given any evidence to support their contention that it will work in Seattle.

What are you people doing. This is crazy and you are destroying the quality of life in this city with your ill informed approach to this issue. Just because someone lives on the street does not mean they are a unfortunate victim of housing inequity. Get real or get a new job!

There needs to be a better solution than having homeless people flood our parks.

I really hope that common sense will play a factor regarding this situation with the homeless camping in our city parks. Do you really think this will create a safe environment in a place where our kids play? I wonder what happens when one of our kids steps or falls on a needle, are you people going to take responsibility? I'm guessing not!! This is a terrible idea, get it together people.

This proposed legislation fails everyone.

Please work to come up with a better solution! This doesn't solve/help it simply pushes the problem around!

We should be building shelters and providing additional services to actively address homelessness, not adding another bandaid that will create public animosity without solving problems. This is a miserable solution.

Please do not let this happen. It does nothing to solve the underlying problem and only puts families at risk; the very families that pay taxes and make the parks possible in the first place.

At the very least someone from the council could explain their case for this legislation. I haven't seen a single goal or projection of change that the city hopes to achieve by passing. It's like they are trying to sneak this by the tax payers without cause.

This is not the park use that voters are supporting when they tax themselves for Seattle Parks Dept. This would be a disaster!

This bill makes no sense, at all. I'm sympathetic to the problem of homelessness; even helping out at a nonprofit that assists with this growing problem. I'm a proponent of Housing First which provides safety and a clean, secure place to live first. Thus allowing people to focus on orher issues such as drug and alcohol abuse, mental health and/or unemplyment. Helping the homeless is NOT letting people camp anywhere they want interfering with the lives and businesses in the city. This is not right for residents, visitors, tourists, and, it is not humane for homeless people who often have other severe problems. This is a bad idea. I don't know if you have been to Portland lately, but it isn't a nice place for visiting any longer. Please don't pass this bill, we need a long-term more humane solution for this problem that does destroy beauty, culture and economy of our city.

Funding mental health care is a better way to take care of our fellow humans then to find another place to stop people while our society continues to ignore the problem. Put the money we would have used to clean up after campers in our public parks to more inpatient psych facilities and programs for outpatient care, including housing. I love Seattle for its great outdoor space. Please don't turn these green spaces into areas that I am unwelcome.
