Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

Stop this nonsense. Represent your voters, not your own foolish thoughts.

There needs to be a better solution to housing Seattle's homeless. This, however, is not the best solution.

This is a really bad idea - they are trying to turn a lovely city into a nightmare for responsible citizens.

"Housing first" not "camping first." This proposed ordinance is a dangerous non- solution for everyone-- neighbors, homeless, business owners and police.

Please stand up and do what is right to keep our community safe and livable!

Focus on finding places for homeless people to live indoors. That's what's needed. Forget this ordinance.

PLEASE start to use some common sense!

It is irresponsible to allow homeless people to sleep in public parks. This bill has the potential of impacting use of sports fields by youth and public enjoyment of the parks.

This is not the way to address this serious issue. We have already seen an increase in drug activity and encampments in our neighborhood parks and green belts making it unsafe for our children. Our family will actively campaign against all counsel members who support this irresresponsible approach.

This isn't a solution. It won't solve the homeless problem.. it will destroy the parks for the wildlife that depends on them. The parks are off limits to tax paying residents at night, why are you considering letting the homeless camp there for 2 years???

This is NOT helping anyone! It only enables.

This is an outrageous proposal. I am confident should this pass the voting member of the city council will be facing stiff opposition from the very voters they purportedly represent. Opposition is not a vote on the issue but rather the lack of a true response to these people who NEED our community to provide the mental health care, drug rehab and housing the need. This measure will not work and is simply ill advised.

I oppose this council bill!

It's not a crime to be homeless, but it is a crime to do many of the thinges homeless do. Enforce the laws, keep them from becoming established in camps in the first place, and in doing so force them to make changes to help improve their situation rather than just setting up camp and giving up. I agree it is likely nobody wants to be homeless, but when I walk by these tents and see the same people doing the same things every day, I recognize that they feel it is easier to sit there in their camp and do nothing for themselves because that is easier than trying to help themselves (or use resources available to them to do so) - it's easier to live in their camps than it is to conform to the rules of law, and so they choose their camps. Make the camps harder so that choosing rule of law is a better option to them.

Please let's slow down this process in order to consider all the option, possible alternatives and consequences.

do not let seattle become another SF. it killed that city. The non homeless have rights too. and this would take our rights away. The homeless are not one cohesive group. There are too many drug addicts and mentally ill within the ranks who either intentionally or not will increase crime exponentially. and then what? once the right is given its much harder to take away. Death, Crime, Anger, Law suits. do not do this. find other answer.s
