Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

The children in our community deserve safe, clean places to play. Allowing people to camp on public land is an irresponsible way to address homelessness in our city.

I am opposed to this solution because I believe is simply adds capacity to a camping solution that is currently not addressing the root causes of the problem. I support efforts to treat substance abuse and mental illness and start to provide longer term housing solutions.

Do not allow camping in our city parks or greenspaces. This action will not solve our homeless problem. Neighborhood greenbelts and quieter areas of parks like Discovery will become "Jungles", unsafe for my family's walks and recreation..

Linda Lou in Orting, WA......signing because I enjoy visiting Seattle parks. I won't if this happens. It will certainly hurt the city's economy when people stop visiting because it has become a filthy pit littered with tent cities. To be honest, we are already seeing this in the last year.....really filthy these days, especially along highways and bridges coming into city. Yuk!

Bad idea, temporary camps turn into slums.

Enough Seattle City council. Is your goal to incentivize the homeless from other parts of the country. Do your job and get the garbage cleaned up!

Do Not Let people camp in our City Parks. That is a crazy , horrible, idea. If this occurs I will VOTE Against Every petition that asks for money for parks. Make house safe clean and with rules for the homeless. Clean up the garbage that is left behind by them. What happened to the Seattle that cared about litter, trash and debris. This used to be a clean City to live in. Our City government is a failure with visable consequences.

As a home owner and parent this is completely unacceptable.

The city parks, which is an integral part of the character and beauty of Seattle is not where you place homeless people. We need to have a more humane approach to this growing problem. It takes bold leadership and courage to demand that real estate developers play a critical part in alleviating this disgraceful problem, which they are exacerbating with their thoughtless proliferation of housing.

A great way to ruin our city!! I believe in compassion but this isn't the solution

City Parks are not the solution to this problem !

the parks are for all people - and for the animals and plants that live there. they are not to be given over to select groups of people.

Please stop this dangerous bill.

Our parks were never created for housing the homeless, many of whom need treatment for addiction and/or mental illness. This is not safe for the general public.

Please consider this carefully. Parks were never designed or conceived for this useage

I will actively work against any council member's reelection who supports this ill-conceived idea.
