Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

We must find better ways to help the homeless. This is not the answer.

Assisting homeless people? Sure! Letting them live in public parks? Absolutely not! We don't our parks to become any more dangerous than they already are. This is an unacceptable solution.

There needs to be more low income housing. Allowing people to stay the night in parks, I feel, is wrong and will create many problems and potentially ruin our parks.

No way! I would fear for the safety of my 15 year old daughter walking our dog through Discovery Park alone. It is our neighborhood park. The park is a peaceful, clean and tranquil at times to let go, breathe in the air, the scenery, and "retreat" for a moment from our growing city. We would lose that if camping was aloud. Camping that homeless to not pay for to keep our parks clean. I am a small gardening business and I pay a lot in state in city taxes. So, to watch folks "loafing" around in a place where I try and decompress fromwhile working my behind off sends anger through my system. Please, reconsider this deplorable idea. For the safety of our kids.

I grew up near Woodland Park, let's not ruin our City parks. Just took train to Portland, waiting for my ride, I saw tents on parking strips in the next block. If I wanted to walk downtown to a restaurant to sit and wait for my ride, I would have to walk/navigate through lots of tents and homeless individuals. Not a pretty picture.

All of the council members with the exception of Burgess should be ashamed of yourselves. How about some common sense here.

Pay close attention to what failed in other cities (Portland & San Francisco). Do NOT sacrifice our parks in an attempt to solve this problem. Organize the dozens of homeless services so assistance is more effective.

I do not support homeless camping on sidewalks and in city parks. I especially don't agree with providing them water and sanitation or pay a fine. This is not a god solution.

Please do not use our beautiful parks for homeless encampments. There are other solutions. I have young children who love to go to all of the area parks and I would not feel safe taking them to the parks if there were homeless shelters there.

This will be disasterous. I've seen what has happened to Portland. The road to hell is paved with good intentions and this is kind hearted idiocy.

Keep neighborhoods and families safe. Let staying under freeways continue. At least they stay dry. Demand that they stay tidy & stop the flagrant garbage mess. Address the real problem(s) by IMMEDIATELY put into housing and addressing WHY they are homeless and help them correct. Contact their family members & put pressure on personal responsibility. Stop letting developers allow a small number of apartments for low income and demand half and half. Ask churches to sponsor a homeless family. People with drug and mental issues need to be in a Healthcare facility immediately. Homelessness is unacceptable. Instead of continuing studies, spend the money on sorting it out. Certainly the money being used for bicycles would have helped this and is a bigger concern for our city vs people who bicycle.

I am against homeless camping in Seattle city parks, on sidewalks, parking strips and any publicly owned spaces. I do not support the idea that as a city taxpayer I must provide water, sanitation and other services or pay a $250 fine per day to each homeless person affected. Homeless people belong in homes, rehab or mental facilities where they can get the help they need.

Fix the homeless problem, Mr. Mayor. Don't ruin family parks.

Please vote no on camping in Seattle green spaces.

Keep are parks safe and for their intended use. Do not allow homeless encampments in our parks.

Why is the Seattle City Council encouraging more drug addicts to move to Seattle and camp in our city parks?
