I'm a bleeding heart liberal and even I think this is a terrible idea. If Seattle's municipal politicos want to maintain our existing high tax rate and structure, they need to ensure there is no middle class "flight to the outlying suburbs." Taxpayers expect clean and safe municipal parks ..... for little Johnny's soccer games.......

This only enables the problem and is unsafe! People on drugs are potentially violent and destroy wetlands and parks that should be there for taxpayers to enjoy.

This is so irresponsible! These councilmen & women need to go if this is really the best they can do.
Our city is famous for our parks and recreation. Years and countless dollars (citizen taxes) have been spent to keep our parks beautiful for everyone to use & enjoy, safely. This bill will create jungles all across the city, we know how the last jungle worked out.
Get a grip and pull your head out!

If we open our parks to allow homeless people to set up encampments there, then we should not be surprised if our parks look like the encampments under freeways and "the Jungle" do now. It will also make it very attractive to people that just want to live on the fringes without any obligations to take care of the space. That obligation would still be ours, the taxpayers!
It will drive people away from the city that I love and that we are pouring money into to improve our city.
No doubt we have a problem, but rents are skyrocketing and we do need more affordable housing in the city! It is a balance.
