This is no longer acceptable. I have lived in Seattle for over 20 years and am no longer comfortable walking through parks and near certain freeway on and off ramps. Stop turning our city into a garbage heap.

Support the petition to defer the vote on bill 118794.. The council and mayors office are not aligned and reacting to a minority interest, individuals who in many cases choose to live this way, and completing ignoring the citizens who pay taxes and should benefit from them. Stop capitulating to the fringe and enabling bad behavior!!!!

Lived all my life in Seattle and was proud to be with SPD for over 23 years…. This proposal is the most perverse, outrageous vote I have ever heard of in my life. We turn our heads to enforcing the SMC’s and RCW’s on the books today, we encourage more homeless to come to Seattle and we erode the quality of life for those who pay significant taxes to the current democratically lead political party in power. I have for years seen the RV’s, the garbage, the human feces on the sidewalks. It’s sick and wrong. You placate those who seek to ignore all aspects of normal life for drugs and alcohol.
Instead of giving them 30 days like they are a tenant, force them to leave or arrest them, give them 90 day sentences and after 30 days, offer drug treatment (parole) through the courts and a job with Seattle Parks cleaning up the mess they have caused. Give them $10 an hour, daily lunch and a bed. Instead of giving them a place to mainline drugs, give them a mainline back to society. If they don’t stay in the program they will have a warrant for their arrest and they go back.
All you need to do is look at the mess Portland is in…. what is wrong with you people…. You are not helping, you are enabling. WAKE UP

The City council’s plan relegates our publicly funded parks into encampments for the disenfranchised, the mentally ill, and the addicted. This is a disgraceful use of our civic funds. Such actions perpetuate the situation rather than move toward fixing the growing problem

This bill isn't helping anyone. Putting homeless people in a park doesn't stop them from being homeless and makes parks unusable for people who live in the city and already pay for the privilege. I've seen the garbage and devastation left by the impromptu homeless camps around the city and do not want our beautiful parks treated in this manner. This is not a solution!

The proposed bill strikes me as madness. A plan to create social friction and destruction of our sensitive park environments that we have voted again and again to support and maintain for the pleasure of all our citizens. Absolutely idiotic. Not a solution. Foolhardy. I am shocked that this is considered to be workable plan. Council members don't see the potential negative impacts? Wow!
