Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

Homeless people need suitable housing and supports--without delay.

It's a disgrace. Put them to work cleaning up the parks and city land in exchange for housing or camping space in wooded areas outside the city. They now call us Freeattle. as we give them everything. Help Wanted signs all over and they ignore them. Who wants to work when they get food, medical help, place to live, toilets etc. etc. etc.

Please defeat CB 1128794. Instead devote all efforts to providing podments for homeless people in Seattle.

I not only support studying this issue, delaying a vote, and putting it to a public vote, but I also will vote against and donate money to proponents of this proposed legislation.

Affordable housing, not public camping !

Seattle parks and other public areas should not be used for camping. Do NOT give any more of our city away. From a taxpayer and voter.

This will create a health, safety, and welfare problem within our parks. Public Parks and ROW are meant for all, not for temporary residences. This is not a solution.

Please defer action on this Council Bill.

Very sad solution to a complex problem. But sometime things need to get bad in order to get the proper attention. Attention needs to turn to funding for medical services, social services and housing with electricity and water. The Jungle was not a solution but city could have managed it better and provided services.

I think the city should ban all homeless, and put them out in rural King County with a bunch of porta-potties and a water supply.

This feels like a very short-sighted and inappropriate solution for both our homeless population and the general public. Please allow more time and input before making a decision on this issue.

Follow the written laws. This didn't happen 20 years ago because it is not allowed. I can't take the dogs on a walk or let kids stay out on their own for fear of needles or mentally ill or just bad eggs.

This is a band-aid to a much larger systemic issue. It has been a problem for long enough that we don't need to rush to a measure that, once its obvious shortcomings are made clear, it takes a massive amount of bureaucratic red-tape to reverse. Let's use Portland as an example.

I just bought a house near a huge homeless encampment and it's terrifying. My house was vacant for a year before we bought it - so we have homeless people tell us at least once a month that we're living in their house. I'm scared to walk a few blocks for ice cream because there are so many aggressive homeless people who approach me. Homeless folks are very dangerous: they're mentally ill and drug addicted. They bring crime. Put the homeless camps in Madison Park or Queen Anne. No - that can't happen. Working families and people with kids don't buy $1.5 million home. My neighborhood has way more children and vulnerable adults living it - yet that's where you encourage the housing of drug-addicted mentally ill people. Seriously- I'm furious. I'm a die-hard liberal democrat but I've voting republican. You've lost sight of who your serving.

Expanding public space camping is not helpful for anyone. The current process has been poisoned by proposals out of touch with reality. How is it that we're voting on a $54B transportation bill but nothing on the ballot to fund constructive responses to homelessness State of Emergency ?
