Do not pass the ACLU camping bill allowing camping all over our city. We just passed a housing levy--use it. We passed a parks funding levy to maintain our parks for all city residents. If people are allowed to camp in parks I will feel unsafe--and be unsafe utilizing the parks I help fund.

This legislation is so far out of alignment with the environmental and civic values that brought us to this incredible city many years ago. We ask council to revaluate their civic duty to better educate themselves before supporting such misinformed legislation.

We should not be Shunting people into our parks because we don't know what else to do about homelessness in the short term. I wonder what it has cost Portland to clean up and rehab the areas it turned over to camping. Let's be smarter about managing money, precious resources such as parks and the needs of vulnerable people.

House the homeless, but not in our parks.

Please do not allow legal homeless encampment in our parks. This does nothing to address the pressing needs for health care and mental health care that homeless individual and families need. This initiative turns our parks into dumping grounds. It is wrong.
Do not pass this.
Sincerely,
Lucia Regan

I can not believe the council is seriously considering this. Have you even looked a the situation in Portland? Have you seriously considered the logistics of hundreds of people camping out? The medical issues of that much human waste providing a perfect disease vector? This is such a bad plan.

Please do not pass this ordinance. I know we must do something about the homeless population but turning parks where our children play into homeless camps is not the answer.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. It's high past time you started caring more about tax paying residents rather than those who contribute nothing.

Ridiculous. I wonder if those who voted for the parks levies knew they were going to get unlimited homeless encampments instead of the clean, family friendly parks that were promised. How long before "we have a homeless problem in downtown" turns into "we have a homeless problem all over Seattle, including where are children play?"

The parks and public places are not just for human use. The environmental impact could be dangerous to our waterfront, water supply, and forest biodiversity. I am worried about the possibility of a fire in Discovery Park during our dry months. Camping in urban green spaces is ridiculous.

This plan is not well thought out and is environmentally unsound. I am also worried about child that are using public parks that are now homeless camps.
