Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

Seattle is a progressive city. We tax ourselves readily to help solve problems like homelessness, and need to continue to work to get homeless off the streets and into housing. Turning the city into a barely regulated campsite isn't the solution.

Homeless living quarters do not belong in City Parks or on City play fields. This plan did not succeed in Portland and will face same challenges here. $250 to each homeless person per violation? The City is turning into an enabler!

Anyone with any love and appreciation for our beautiful city and its parks will sign this. How in the world does anyone think this is a viable solution to address our homeless population. Mind boggling.

No allowing the homeless to take up residence in city parks. Dangerous, lawless, unsanitary. Hand up, not hand out.

We need to protect the parks!

This is not a solution, this is just spreading the problem around. It is the worst idea I've heard yet.

The homeless situation needs to be addressed, but this is an extremely short-sighted way of doing it and not a long-term solution.

Where are the funds coming from for garbage removal and police patrols to prevent crime? We just had a woman attacked in Seward Park in broad daylight.

I would encourage a no vote for allowing homeless to camp in city parks.

City hall should open its building to the homeless and move its operations to the parks.

I support helping the homeless, but this is NOT the way to do it.

This is one of the worst ideas the city council has ever come up with. Do they not realize how much they are turning tourists off of our city? I have heard many tourists say they will never come back to Seattle due to the homeless issue. That's a lot of tax dollars just walking out the door. I walk from Westlake Station to my job in Belltown and many days I don't feel safe due to all of the drugged out transients roaming the streets. Do something to help get them off the street, not more of them on it.

Homeless people do not belong on the streets or parks. Shelters for addiction and mental illness are needed. The lazy criminal element should not be encouraged to move to Seattle.

This is not a solution, do your jobs.

I do not want tents in our parks along with children, families, pets. Pick an area, fence it off, supply portapoties, garbage bins. We know they need to be nearby food distribution ctrs. We need to work this out and not use a system tried in PDX for 6 mos and cancelled.

More than homeless live in this city.

There has to be a better solution.

I strongly oppose this proposal. I agree that this proposal is not a viable temporary or long-term solution to the homeless issue, and it poses potential health and safety concerns to our neighborhood parks, playgrounds, and sidewalks. Thank you.
