This has proven not to have worked in other cities, vote against it and keep our parks clean. I'm tired of seeing needles and garbage when I go to the park with my kids!

I strongly oppose the use of public parks and other public spaces for camping of any kind!!

This unbalanced approach will help no person out of homelessness. As the Jungle showed us, unregulated camping will cause tremendous public health and safety problems for those experiencing homelessness and the surrounding community. This is bad public policy written by paid special interests. Please focus on sustainable, effective and human solutions to the challenge of homelessness.

This is a terrible idea and will only lead to chaos throughout the city.

This will only serve to take away the parks from our kids & our families. Find another approach, this is faulty thinking.

Allowing camping in public parks and other public spaces is not the answer to Seattle's homelessness problem. The proposed bill would make it unsafe for our children to play in city parks.

NOT the answer. Please find another!

This is a horrible piece of legislation and I can't believe that City Council is actually taking it seriously. It will have the result of rewarding the behavior that (in theory) the City wants to discourage, plus it essentially takes away public lands from children and neighbors who rely on parks and green spaces.

Turning our parks into homeless camps does nothing to solve the underlying cause of homelessness.

We need regulations that govern all people well. Allowing the public to camp on public land serves no one well unless it is regulated as any well-run 'camp-ground' and set-aside as such.

I am appalled at the short sighted 118794. I have worked with clients who have issues that at time bring them to homelessness. It is criminal to ask them to live in cold, unsanitary conditions- undignified and also irresponsible. Treating them with support and giving them real housing are important steps. Also it dishonors and terrifies families and individuals who pay taxes to use their parks in safety. Near us what does it do to folks in transitional housing at Magnuson who want their older kids to play in the park in safety?

Homeless camping is very bad policy and a threat to our quality of life. Tim Burgess is putting forward a sane alternative.

I do think we need to get serious about the homeless issue in Seattle, but this is not the answer. Aside from the obvious reasons – parks are for recreation and not living – doing this would put the city in a very vulnerable legal situation. Eventually this solution will create a situation where a citizen visiting the park will be attacked/injured/etc by a homeless person living in the park. The injured citizen will sue the city and the city will pay out a lot of money. Again.

This legislation is not the answer. Take all the money you were going to spend turn it into a grant to the creative agencies with intelligent ideas for shelters and housing. Do not try to reinvent the wheel. Support groups like Compass Housing Alliance (and Leverage The Paul Allen Foundation donation of $1,000,000. There plenty of property throughout the City.

Please update the brick barracks at Magnusson for the homeless. I do not want to give up my public parks when camping out is not an acceptable why to live in the northwest. Good brick buildings--good enough for U. S Navy officers and men--are available and empty. If you have the usual concern about asbestos, etc., then remove the offending elements.

"Irresponsible" is not a strong enough work to describe the insanity of this proposal! Council members who vote for this legislation will not have my vote when they ask to be re-elected!!

This is a terrible idea, do NOT go forward on this plan to allow our parks and green spaces to be held hostage. It will not work and the clean-up/reversal will cost thousands and thousands of city dollars.
