This is not our elected reps solving the problem it is them going through motions and sticking the home owner with the problem. I will remember this disregard for their responsibilities when they are up for election.

I don't know the alternative but we must keep Seattle Parks safe for young children and teens and Senior Citizens alike. I do not support using our public city parks for this purpose

This is not a solution, it is increasing the magnitude of the problem and making it much harder to manage. It will also seriously damage our residential areas in terms of value and livability, and is hazardous to the tax paying citizens of the city.

Do not make our parks and public spaces unsafe for everyone. Find a solution, don't create an even bigger problem for Seattle.

These homeless people have trashed every area they camp in with heroin needles, broken bottles, much garbage, human excrement, and illicit drug residue. They should not be allowed to destroy pristine open space, wildlife habitat and safe recreational areas. Regular users of the parks should not have to worry for their own safety 24/7 or about harassment from theses socially imbalanced homeless park occupants. Seattle City Council bill 118794 only enable much unwanted behavior in our parks and public areas. Many of these parks and public areas are near safe residential areas that will change for the worse. Council bill 118794 is only an enabler and encouragement for homeless to come here from all over the U.S. "Build it and they will come." The tax payers of Seattle are the ones who provide the safe public places not homeless campers. Any city council or mayoral vote for this bill is an arrogant slap in the face to the taxpayers of Seattle. We won't forget who supported this bill come election time.

Look to San Antonio, TX to see how they dealt with this situation.

This bill is insane. It is being pushed primarily by those in the homeless industry who would profit from the passage of the bill.

Scattering the homeless will severely hinder the ability to provide sanitation, food, medical care, and social services. Turning Seattle's public green spaces into homeless shelters will dramatically diminish the quality of life for its citizens. The city council's efforts should be redirected towards finding centralized sites for sheltering the homeless, and considering a city wage tax to support low-income housing.

I am opposed to the proposed ordinance allowing homeless encampments in public parks and other public spaces.

I am strongly against the passage of this legislation. I believe it not only will not help reduce homelessness, but will damage much of our precious public space and ramp up rancour.

Allowing sleeping in parks and on the streets does not end homelessness. Unsanctioned camps simply shift the responsibility for sanitation, human waste disposal and policing to the community.

I currently live in Shoreline, but I've lived in Seattle for 26 yrs. Please, help the homeless, they need homes! Not parks. Each year, for 90 days, I live next door to a encampment of tented families, they have a lovely place considering it's a tent camp, but really these people need homes please can't we set something up like they did in Utah, where they found it cheaper and better just to find rooms, apartments for all the homeless, please.

Our parks are so important and serve many functions to the residents of Seattle. Please don't open them to camping. Portland recently tried a similar plan with terrible results. The damage to our public spaces could take years to fix and it does not help the homeless who deserve better solutions than this.

This is not an appropriate response to our homeless situation - it's quite frankly absurd. This is not safe for our communities and we need to find better solutions to help our homeless population while protecting the ability for families to use parks safely. We should learn from Portland's reversal of a similar ordinance (after only 6 months) that was a disaster for that city.

This bill is absurd, insane and uncaring when it comes to the taxpayers of this city. Portland tried it this summer and it attracted people from Seattle when they closed down the Jungle. 500 tents in one park alone. They are abandoning the program. Don't turn this city into one big Hooverville! Inforce our existing laws. With this ridiculous law you will loose tourism and companies that might otherwise come here as well as lower our property values!
