Do not allow camping in our parks, we need a better solution.

This does nothing to help the situation and takes parks away from people who enjoy them. This is very short sided and narrow thinking.

I strongly oppose this bill in that it is unlikely to improve the lives of homeless people, and is liable to lead to worsening conditions for both homeless and residents. Issues of safety and sanitation are already problems in my neighborhood of Queen Anne, and I have personally seen the effects of camping in the parks and green belt in this area. Many of the people camping here appear to have substance or mental health problems and they can be a danger to themselves and others. They need safe places to stay where they can access services and facilities, and not left to fend for themselves in makeshift encampments without access to proper toilets, water, shelter – or any public safety protections. In addition to the problems of human waste and trash, which are obvious health hazards, I've seen people shooting up – completely unconcerned about passersby, including children, and have witnessed clearly intoxicated or disturbed individuals exhibiting threatening and lewd behavior, including sexual propositions and public masturbation. As it is, some of the park areas can no longer serve their intended purpose as community green spaces to be shared and enjoyed by all, and allowing camping in these areas without regards for either the health and well-being of the homeless or the concerns of the residents, would be foolhardy and morally wrong. We need a better, more comprehensive solution to this ongoing societal problem.

Worst possible nightmare scenario for the hard working tax payers of Seattle, WA. Our sole heritgae parks WILL be trashed and take TONS more money to clean. Since when do junkie drifters have more say in our society than its citizens. The City council and Mike O'Brien are an embarrassment to the entire city and country.

Please find another solution to this problem. Adopting this plan is the lazy way out. Listen to the ideas of Tim Burgess.

Seattle Resident looking for a solution that did not just recently fail as it did in Portland

We are homeowners who pay taxes, donate to charities and help make this city a good place to be. We will be moving from this city and possibly state if this passes. This is not an acceptable solution.

This is the most irresponsible thing to do. It is not safe for anyone including the homeless. Garbage and needles will be strewn all over. If it failed in Portland, why in the world would you think it will work here??? Our city is already looking like a garbage dump in many areas. I used to be proud of this city I was born in and this is now a complete embarrassment! We pay our fair share of taxes and do not mind it when spent appropriately.

Parks are places for all of us. We need housing for homeless not cold wet ground!

Look to what happened in Portland. The experiment didn't work.

We need to help the homeless, that's for sure. This just isn't the way, nor is it a step in the right direction.

This isn't the help the homeless people need. I think this will turn our beautiful city into a dumping ground. Having them in parks, near play fields will only create more of a problem as I've already heard people are buying arms and tasers to defend themselves from these crazy homeless people. Establishing tent camps with rules is the way to go but of course those who are mentally ill or on drugs won't want to go there so those homeless people will be the ones who end camping at public parks.

This legislation is irresponsible and will result in increased danger and instability for all involved. It is not a solution or even a stop gap. It creates more problems and solves none. Do not pass this bill.
