This is not a long-term or safe solution for the homeless in Seattle!

This is irresponsible and our neighbors to the south, Portland, just attempted something similar with negative results and consequences. The people of Seattle care about our homeless residents and this is NOT the best way to treat them or those of us that care about them.

This is ludicrous. I'm ashamed of our city for even proposing and contemplating.

Allowing encampments in public parks or in cars on neighborhood streets does nothing to provide permanent safe housing. Such permission would lead to tax paying citizens to feel unsafe in parks and may lead to reluctance to vote for park levies.

No No and No. It's been tried before with horrible results.

Please provide homeless people with the support they need. Starting with proper shelters not tents in parks! The city is failing its citizens on this important issue.

Why try it after Portland found it to be a failure. Let's try something different

This has been tried in Portland and was proven a disastrous failure. It's shameful that the City Council will put forth bills based on hunches without even doing a simple Google search first. Lazy.

This cannot happen!! People should not live in our parks, they need a home

Under no circumstances should the city allow illegal trespassing/camping in city parks and/or other public property.

A study and more time needs to be taken before something of this magnitude is decided upon.

Do not pass this bill.

The legislation as written is totally unworkable. I have supported the increased density and HALA initiatives. I am not against homeless people, but some factors that create homelessness are drug dependency and mental illness and Seattle families need to have confidence in the safety of our parks and open spaces in order to raise confident, independent children.

Please do NOT allow this irresponsibly drafted Council Bill 118794 to have a chance at passing. It would be a disservice to the entire community

People who require social services should be housed near social services, our parks and neighborhoods cannot offer the help they need. Keep our parks green.

My hard earned tax dollars that go towards parks are so I can go to the parks and experience the calm, beauty and peacefulness of them. This is an OUTRAGE, DISGRACE AND NOT A SOLUTION!!!

This is a ridiculous solution to the homeless problem and will affect businesses in Seattle, tourism, public usage of recreational areas, etc. Don't do it!

Vote NO on Council Bill 118794.

This is absolute shame to even consider allowing people to camp on public land. My children would be terrified to see this or encounter someone camping in their park or school. What a disgrace to this once beautiful city of ours. Terrible terrible terrible leadership!

This is not an answer to the problem. There needs to be a more permanent and reasonable solution with dignity for both sides. I do not want to take my granddaughter to the parks any more or to enjoy any of the things I loved about growing up in Seattle. The human waste and garbage everywhere is just disgusting and the addition of more public toilets and dumpster is not the answer. In addition, I am a business owner in SODO. We have very limited parking in our area, barely enough for the employees and clients of our business and those around us. When motor home parks on our street it occupies at least 3 parking spaces not to mention the drug dealing, prostitution and mounds of garbage that are remaining when they leave. Many try to be good neighbors but there are a few that are a real problem. The city does not come and clean up our sidewalls or street, the business owners come out on Saturday morning and clean up all the crap that gets left. Seattle doesn't pay for our time and dumpster space. Folks that decide to move into our street and sidewalks are disruptive to the people living and working in the area. I can't begin to tell you how many times we have had to out with the shovel and bags to clean up human waste. Council bill 118794 - NO! Let the homeless camp in the cities offices unused cubicles and on the council members lawns so they can get a feeling of what this would be like for everyone.
