Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

This is INSANE.

Very bad plan. Urging a vote of "NO"

This is a truly foolish and irresponsible piece of legislation. Homelessness is s serious problem. We need a serious response from the council, not this lazy posturing.

have you ever listened to what turists are saying about our city after there visits. Perhaps start there!

Stop the insanity. Seattle's political correctness has gone too far. Our city council members need to be removed from office. Pathetic.

This failed in Portland, where is your common sense.

Out of sight, out of mind. Terrible solution. I need the parks to restore my spirit as I continue to volunteer to help marginalized people. I need to know that there are places I can go where I will not be approached for money. I am downtown 2-3 times a week and approached by an average of seven people. I spent 35 years working as an RN in hospitals that serve the poor (level one trauma centers like Harborview).. I am 69 years old, and dammit,my needs are just as important as the homeless!

This is the single most dangerous and absurd proposal to deal with the homeless epidemic I've heard. Seriously, tell me this isn't really being considered?

Tying the City of Seattle's hands including those of the police in regards to homeless camping in public areas is not the answer. I have already witnessed city parks with 24 hour homeless presence. For example, I am afraid to enter Cascade Park at night because of pot smoking and fighting amongst the homeless residents there. Seattle certainly doesn't feel as safe as I remember in the 1990s.

Just stupid

As a mom with a 4 year old who loves nature and paths in the woods of the more natural park settings this is a really concerning for me and my childs safety as well as access to the park we pay taxes to use as well as recently paid to improve.

Parks have their own intended purpose and are not the solution to homelessness, either in the short or long term.

Please help keep our parks clean and safe for public use instead of being infested by squatters/campers who are homeless.

CB 118794 would turn every city park and green space into another 'jungle', where wild, unlawful and inhumane behavior rules. This would effectively prevent the public from using these lands by virtue of their being too dangerous to enter. What a betrayal of the public's trust! This is not we signed up for when we voted to create and fund the Seattle Park District.

Parks are not appropriate places for people to be living. We need to find places that can handle people living there.

This is an attempt to *avoid* the problem of homelessness. Allowing homeless people, many of whom have addictions and/or mental health disorders, to take our parks and sidewalks away from us is absolutely unacceptable. It is not what the people want, and I am shocked to hear that our city council is even considering such a thing.
