I would hope this will cut down on the used needles at the school across from our house and Northacres Park up the street. It's become so unsafe in our North Seattle neighborhood because of the homelessness and drug use.

Mayor Nickels promised homelessness would be a priority issue for his administration to address. Thus far, he has not done anything meaningful to help the homeless and instead we're considering allowing the homeless to take over parks, leaving biological waste and drug paraphernalia for our children and pets to stumble upon? No. No, that is NOT a legitimate way to help the homeless, and only serves to hurt other groups of vulnerable people.

This is not a solution for homelessness and is dangerous for the public.

I'm not usually one to get involved in politics. But this is too much and extremely irresponsible of our city council to even consider allowing encampments in our neighborhood parks and residential communities.

The absurdity of this "proposal" can not be allowed to become reality. Is there anyone left at city hall with any measure of common sense besides Burgess?

We do NOT support Council Bill 118794. This is NOT a viable solution for the homeless population in our city nor it is a fair solution for the families of our city. It's a horrible proposal that will do more harm than good. Do your jobs and listen to the will of the people.

This is not working in Portland and is not a solution for homelessness.

This plan has already failed in another Northwest city. It does nothing to address the underlying issues leading to the homeless explosion in our area, and will only increase the costs, both fiscally and in the major loss of use of public spaces for the majority of our citizens. And, what happens to the newly created Seattle Cities Parks District? How exactly will they perform the function stated when voters made the decision to support its creation? This is a bad plan, pelt thought out, and it will have a massive ripple effect throughout this city, including long term damage to families, liveability, and the economy.

This will not appropriately address the increased number of homeless people living in Seattle and will instead result in significant unintended consequences to our community

I live in Capitol Hill, adjacent to 7Hills park. The number of urban tent campers, homeless men and addicts, who shoot up on my front porch, has reached its maximum. As my representative, I urge you to vote in my best interest and keep my park safe. Seven Hills park is notable for its dedication to a young girl who was stabbed to death in the neighborhood by a transient who was mentally ill. Please do not risk my life as well.

This ordinance should be defeated. It will create unhealthy conditions in our city.

I cannot imagine a more destructive vote. Focus needs to be on assistance and real shelter. Real help. Real shelter. Real caring.

There are so many other vacant properties in each area of the city that could be used, please don't use our precious parks for housing.
