Another effort that is filled with risks that do not support the majority of our citizens.

This will help no one, hurt many and drastically increase the number of tents in Seattle. Why would the the Council be doing this?!

End the insanity! We are not loving the homeless population when we enable them to continue in these self-destructive lifestyles.

We live one block from the south entrance to Woodland Park. We also have three young children. Lately we do not feel very comfortable walking and Hiking through the trails at the park because of the illegal camping and loitering situation. Garbage and needles are a continual problem and source of insecurity for letting our children wander while they are walking with us. We have already been dealing with RVs that dump their sewage, leak oil, and conduct illegal activity along with all of the tent campers. After thinking this was already too much, I am flabbergasted that the city council is proposing allowing illegal camping to the extent they are suggesting and to assume this will turn out any other way than Portland is just overly optimistic speculation. Please reconsider this policy as it is not going to help and will just aggravate the tax base of the city.

This bill will harm us all residents and their children, homeless and the native creatures that belong in our parks. You (and we) can DO BETTER. If not, we will elect people who can.

Why does the City Council not recognize how obviously bad an idea this is?

City parks, any parks, are not the right solution to homelessness.

I agree that the City of Seattle should defer a vote in order to study and come up with improved solutions.
This petition is poorly worded and victimizes homelessness, but better solutions than camping in parks is needed.

I can't think of many faster ways to ruin our city.

This is the wrong way to address homelessness. Jobs, shelter, food, ability to shower and counseling are all needed. To solve this tremendous problem.

This is not a good solution to our homeless problem. It would penalize all Seattle residents, children most of all.

I don't believe this move helps homeless people in any way and it takes away one of Seattle's greatest resources- our parks.

This would be absolutely horrible for our city. Please consider the families and their children who should be able to use the parks and public open spaces. We are the ones who pay the taxes and contribute to the community. To ruin our parks by having them become cluttered with trash, needles and excrement is no answer to this problem.

awful idea - our city parks are a beautiful respite within the city. it s simply not realistic to think they will not be severely impacted by such an ordinance. I don't recall anyone asking the ACLU or the city council for these sort of measures.

After having funded the Parks Levy, and watching all the improvements in the Parks across the City, it is totally incredible that the Council would move forward to permit homeless encampments in our Parks. Seattle is barely liveable now but encroaching on the public greenbelts and parks will further degrade what is fast becoming an unattractive city lifestyle. Recently, one early morning our dog ingested a marijuana edible left by a vagrant person overnight in Greenlake and suffered incapacitation for 24 hours along with a trip to the emergency vet.
