Please follow Tim Burgess' lead and disapprove this poorly thought out bill that was tried in Portland and failed miserably.

No camping without proper sanitation. I have seen way to much human waste in the park

I cannot imagine how anyone could think this is a good idea.

Why aren't you looking at successful models, from places like Utah and implementing those?

There are public health issues with this plan that need to be addressed. Human waste throughout our city is a threat to each adult and child's health. We need real housing for people - not the trashing of our parks and green zones.

City Council: who are you passing this law for? Do your job and represent your people who are clearly not in favor of this law.

Agree more time is needed and why did Portland stop? Because it did not work....

Misguided! It didn't work in Portland; it won't here either.

Especially considering the prevalence of severe chronic mental illness and/or addiction among homeless folks, allowing encampments is the worst kind of neglect of our most vulnerable people. Permissiveness is not a way of really caring about someone. Instead, it is a way to neglect someone.

This proposal should NEVER be condoned for any part of Seattle! This is not a plan, it is simply a bandaid that may help the downtown retail areas have a tad bit of relief, at the expense of safety for neighborhood parks and families. The repercussion will be vigilantes patrolling neighborhood parks which will become scary very fast. Stop this direction of thinking and head back to the drawing board city council!

What will happen to the soul of this city if you take away the safety of its public spaces? Ask New York in the 80s.

The parks need to be kept as public places of safe recreation. Homeless encampments failed miserably in Portland, and there is no good evidence that Seattle can do any better than Portland.

If we allow this we'll get busloads of homeless from around the country.

This is not a solution. This is a stop-gap with terrible ramifications.

Mayor Murray cleaned out "The Jungle"- Now the City Council wants to turn the whole city into a Jungle?? What are you thinking? Homeless people need help, services and a plan for stable housing.
Listen to Tim Burgess!

I spend about half my time (for the last 7 years) in Portland. They tried this and it doesn't work. We need to invest in market rate housing and upzone SODO for housing.

Parks are for the public to play and enjoy, not living place.
