I have lived across from Gasworks Park for the past 22 years and have dealt with the homeless population throughout the entire time. The escalation of homelessness and the unwillingness of our City Council to deal with the problem realistically and effectively is most distressing. I agree that the Portland program failed. Why do you want to repeat a bad idea and the expense of the taxpayers.

I want to feel safe when taking my children to the park. I strongly oppose allowing people to camp in parks.
Let's provide services, not a blind eye.

Thank you, Tim Burgess, for being a voice of sanity on the City Council. Also, let's put the homeless to work cleaning up trash and graffiti and pay them for it; it has been tried successfully elsewhere.

Allowing homeless encampments in city parks is stupid, dangerous, and unacceptable. Get your heads out of your a...s

thia is not the solution to our problem. Something has to be done to get people off the streets, not just tucked away in our parks.

I am on the board of the Pike Market Senior Center and Food Bank, and addressing homelessness and providing support and services to the homeless are key parts of our mission. This council bill goes against so much of we work for in looking for safe, reliable, decent, and dignified housing. Please reconsider.

Three things:
1) We need to address the root cause of homelessness, not create reasons to delay real, needed change.
2) It is not right that visitors, families and children will no longer be able to go to the parks and feel safe using the bathrooms or taking walks.
3) I want my tax dollars used so that parks can be VISITED by all. Not *lived* in by a few.

I understand this is a sensitive issue, but can you at least think of the hard working tax payers and their vulnerable children first?

If the homeless are allowed to camp in our parks, this city will be ruined. Right now it's complete anarchy where they live and if you allow them to extend the anarchy we will never recover. Our parks are one of the crown jewels of Seattle. Let's not throw that into a trash and heroin needle cesspit.

Most absurd idea ever.
