A vote to proceed on Council bill 118794 without a full analysis and opportunity for full public discussion would be irresponsible, especially in light of the Portland experience.

This irresponsible Bill must NOT be enacted. This bill enables does not motivate homeless folks into housing. Whether they like it or not we must all follow rules. Shame on the City Council for failing to protect the homeless and the homeowners.

This is a terrible idea. I won't vote for any council member that supports it.

I oppose the 2 year trial of homeless camps in city parks, byways and in communities. Bringing homeless encampments into area where young children play, families gather and sports teams play will be a dangerous nuisance. We have seen areas where encampments are under bridges and other areas that become an infestation of drugs, bottles of urine, used needles, alcohol, belligerent people with no respect for law or common decency. There certainly are exceptions but we have seen it over and over to be a problem. Our neighbors to the south in Portland have tried this with disastrous results.
Please keep Seattle public property, parks etc for all people not just a select few.

I understand that homeless people need a place to live. But children need a safe place to play.

This idea failed in Portland. What makes you think it would work in Seattle?

Council Bill 118794 is not addressing the needs of permanent housing and mental health care for people living in the streets.

This is the worst idea I have ever heard of. Parks are critical to the well-being of children and families, especially in dense urban areas. They need to be safe, clean and environmentally protected. I am greatly distressed by the plight of the homeless in this city but parks are the absolutely least appropriate place to move them. There is no intelligence behind this idea. Do not do it.

The city council needs to not become a social services agency.
They are pandering to the homeless and yes I am a Seattle liberal.

I support finding solutions to these problems, but do NOT believe this is a workable piece of that solution. Keep out open spaces open and our parks clean and safe.

Providing camping spots in parks will not address or solve the problem. We need a coordinated PLAN to address homelessness. Your consultants have given recommendations. Listen to them.

Insane idea which endangers the public and does not address the main causes of homelessness ; mental illness and addiction.

This bill is good for no one.
We need realistic help for homeless people.
