Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

This is a clear sign that the City Council and Mayor are corrupt to the core. They have no interest in listening to the taxpaying voting constituents. This will not help the problem - this is enabling poor life choices. Throwing taxpayer money at various "Homeless, Inc'" groups with no data collection is pure stupidity. It is clear that these groups are driving government decisions and we as taxpayers must take our city back! Search on "Anatomy of a Swindle: How a Rogue Non-profit Captured the Emerald City" at roominate dot com. It's a pretty enlightening view into the thievery going on right under our noses.

This is out of hand. Residents of Seattle should have safe clean parks. I am scared to walk alone now.

Invest in metal health facilities / treatment with my tax money. Save lives and help the needy become positive citizens again.

Follow the successful housing-first models Boston, Salt Lake City, Houston, and the 34 other states have implemented.

We didn't pay for parks so the homeless can trash 'em.

When I first heard about this plan I thought the person was joking--this is the most shortsighted, dangerous and plain stupid idea ever put into writing in the Council. I am a liberal Democrat. Please do not vote for this.

You can't destroy our parks. We taxpayers have rights too. What about us?

Let's keep our parks a place to visit not live.

Homeless people who are truly interested in bettering their situation are not living in "The Jungle." Moving those people moves crime with them. Time for common sense leadership in this City.

Our family agrees that this is not an issue or solution to take lightly. This is definitely something that needs further evaluation, needs input from the community, and it should be put to a public vote.

No homeless in the parks. Do your jobs. It's been nearly a year and millions of wasted tax dollars to accomplish nothing. You've only made the situation worse (and going)

Absurd and an infringement on tax payers right to a clean, safe and deserved environment. I live in the center of this "crap show" and will not tolerate a decision made my a council that has no idea what is really happening within the homeless community. Trash, buckets of urine and feces, dilapidated box trucks, mentally ill people and yes...a ton of drugs. See it day in and day out. Make a decision, a reasonable and educated decision to keep these people out of our parks and off our streets. Maybe the people who don't deal with them on their street will be kind enough invite them over for a stay.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. The money would be better spent helping the homeless find jobs and a place to live, not a park.

Read Danny Westneat's column Sunday 10/09/16. It didn't work in Portland, it won't work in Seattle.

This needs a heck of a lot more understanding. How we can declare places like "The Jungle" not safe and then open up all of our parks and think we can keep them safe feels pretty short-sighted.

The homeless issue in the parks poses a safety issue to the public, as well as the infinite number of children who play in these parks. Both needles and excrement have been found in my neighborhood park.
