Please do not allow camping in unimproved park areas, on sidewalks, or in green belts. There are no services for the homeless in these places, there are no sanitation facilities, and most importantly, dispersion of the homeless across the city means that the services (food, water, counseling, medical) that the city provides, are not easily accessible. Unmonitored camping in the elements is not the solution to homelessness.

Encampments are not a reasonable use of city parks, and a $250 fine is not a reasonable use of taxpayer funds. Please stop this lunacy.

This is a terrible idea which will cost taxpayers untold money while doing nothing to actually help people in need of shelter and safe housing. Ask Portland how legalizing city camping turned out. ...

This proposal does nothing to solve the problems experienced by those who are homeless and creates additional problems. Please spend more time assessing and developing a better solution to the issue of homelessness.

We all pay for parks, and we should all be able to use them. Children, athletes, parents, grandparents, runners - we should all feel safe in our parks. Homeless people are welcome to use them according to their intended uses, but not for their trash, body waste, and drug needles.

I do not support this. I cannot see one good reason to this above the many other options that exist.

I completely agree that this is a very misguided solution to the problem of homelessness. I live near a Seattle park that's already being used by homeless folks. There are alcohol bottles scattered around. Children are prevented from using the play area and ball fields from time to time. Worst of all, there are no bathroom facilities. Please find another way to help these folks find safe places to live. Not our public parks!

This legislation is ill-crafted and short sighted. I am stunned that my city's council would even consider this hijacking of our public spaces when it does nothing to address the root problems.

We spend a fortune on homelessness that useless politician piss away. Enough is enough. This will do nothing but increase the problem and lead to even more property crime.

This puts everyone's safety at risk and will most certainly negatively impact our public spaces. Please PLEASE come up with a better solution!

This would have a devastating impact on our few remaining natural areas. The Council is wrong to pit nature preservation against homeless advocacy. Find a better solution,

It's really sad to see what a pigsty the city has turned into the last 2 years.

Yes, to allow chaos of camping on our streets and parks that cannot be contained in a healthy way is irresponsible of the council to the citizens of Seattle. You endanger us and our children. It is not a long term or short term solution. The camping will go unregulated, cause more garbage and sanitation issue for the city. Our parks are not their campgrounds, nor our sidewalks. Provide safe housing and sanitation on a permanent level. They will not clean up after themselves if you allow this. They already do not!
