This is NOT the solution to the homeless problem in Seattle!

Destroying our parks and green space by allowing people who are unable to and (let's be honest) unwilling to live by the rules of our society camp, urinate, deficate, and oftentimes take part in illegal activities at the direct expense of the law abiding taxpayers in this city and county is a dereliction of duty to the very people who put you in office. Please get back to the drawing board and find a solution that demonstrates respect for the people paying your salaries to a degree at least equal to the level of charity you would show to those people that are unable and/or unwilling to give back to this community.

It is shortsighted to try and solve one problem by creating another. Put your effort in finding temporary shelters in more suitable locations with centralized public health services with the goal of getting those in need into permanent housing as soon as possible. What about the vacant Terminal 5 and all those empty Hanjin (now bankrupt) cargo containers? Many cities have used cargo containers to create a pretty nice community for people in need. http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-shipping-container-housing-20160914-snap-story.html

Allowing camping on public places is not a solution it's just pretending there is not a problem. Keep parks parks and locate homeless people in homes

Tim Burgess is the only Seattle politician with a brain. We should throw the rest the city council, and the mayor, out of office. Seattle has become a laughing stock.

STOP THE MADNESS. This city is not going to be turned over to one big park for the homeless. This is OUR city. We have been more than willing to help. We are NOT however going to give it away. Smarten up council.

Crime is terrible in the parks already!!! I lived in Discovery Park Senior Officer Housing for 6 years and couldn't wait to move out due to the homeless trash, verbal threats...etc. (The beautiful view from my porch was not worth the constant concern for the safety of my family)

Seattle City Council: this is NOT A VIABLE SOLUTION to our homeless problem. Pull your heads out, roll up your sleeves and do what you were elected to do: work hard to find an ACCEPTABLE solution!

Parks, alcohol/drug rehabilitation facilities, and mental hospitals are three different things. Don't sacrifice parks by turning them into outdoor warehouses for people who belong in the former two places.

I think we can find a better way to solve this problem than by opening up our parks.

Please don't ruin our beautiful city. Let's work on affordable housing and dealing with the root causes of homelessness. My husband was recently assaulted outside of his small business in Ballard by a homeless camper living on his office street. Completely unacceptable as a law abiding, tax paying Seattle resident.

This sounds like a a possible disaster in the making. It doesn't sound safe for anyone using the public parks or for the homeless who would be trying to live there.

This is and issue that needs to be addressed! Our parks are not the answer! We need leadership!

City Council: Please vote against the Park/Sidewalk Camping Proposal. Please work toward a better and safer plan for everyone; homeless and neighbors alike.

Parks are to enjoy, not to live in. The proposal is irresponsible and creates a danger for those the parks are meant for - all of us!
