Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

It's a dubunked, bad idea.

This is a question of health and saftey! Protecty the people! Protect our parks! Plainly, Just do your job!

Our park system is what makes our city so beautiful! Please give the homeless other options and keep our parks clean and safe for recreational use.

Pleas work to find a more equitable and effective solution for all, not this legislation which will hurt Seattle families, put undue pressure on police, drain Seattle's budget without really providing a better housing or encampment solution.

Public spaces are key to the beauty of the city and should not be used for homeless camping.

Moving homeless people into suburb neighborhood parks is wrong.

How did we elect people who think this is a good idea?

This is not the solution to our problem.

This is absolute lunacy.

It baffles me why the Seattle City Council plans to create new liabilities for the city and its taxpayers. CB118794 includes complicated procedures for removing illegal campers and offers to pay them $250/day if the city makes a mistake. It also offers to help move their stuff. The proposed ordinance does not, however, do anything to help solve the problem.

Please do not enact this legislation.

Seattle is my home town, though I've lived in 2 other regions. Being childless, I've willingly paid taxes to support schools and parks, even though my use of the parks (with my dogs) is severely limited. Why should the homeless be given "squatters' rights" that will deny the tax paying public use of their own parks? Would you allow your children or encourage your wife or daughters access to an area where who knows who is in that tent? This is not the solution. It will indeed attract the intentionally transient to our relatively mild climate.

These people have made a choice to live on the streets. Those that want help can get it. Seattle has people that have chosen to live on the streets moving from other cities to take advantage of the lack leadership in this administration. Remember those who put you in office.

No homeless camping in parks, public spaces or sidewalks... Take care of the tax payers first!

You are elected to support the best interest of the people who elected you. In this case you are not doing that. You have a responsibility to make decisions on behalf of the people who are contributing to this city and making it a great place to be. Please respond to me with your intent of this ordinance.

I am a Seattle resident and wish to have the city council deal with the homeless problem by providing shelter for people. Your solution will not solve the problem and will destroy our parks in the process. In future, write legislation yourselves and never allow any outside interest group to do it for you.
