What on earth would make the city council think this was a good idea and then try to enact something with such broad impact on the entire city without a longer and more thoughtful public discourse?

Does not address known solutions to homelessness such as HOUSING and access to mental health and addiction treatment. Inadequate study and inadequate public comment period. Will exacerbate existing public health and safety issues in our parks.

Please consider other alternatives that will help the homeless other than this piece of legislation. It will not help to transition homeless people into housing. It will instead lead to the despoilation of our long fought-after public parks and other undeveloped places. They will become crime-infested sewers where the children of Seattle will not play. Find locations, buy land to build very low-rent campsites and reroute buses to serve them. Do something that is well thought out and organized. My thanks to you for all you do to help our city. I trust you will do the right thing now. Regards. Michael Boeglin

This is not a viable solution to our homeless problem. I use our parks; I live in Seattle; and I vote.

Please don't vote for this ordinance!!!This bill will not help the homeless get off the street and into shelters.

Please reconsider voting for this legislation! If feels extremely underthought out. I am a huge advocate for solving our homeless challenges in this city, but not at the expense of taking care of our cherished public spaces. We have kids that use these parks every single day, and I worry how we keep them safe and clean for shared use. I also worry about the land use impacts of allowing folks to live on land without utilities like trash service , running water, or sewage treatment, for 30 days at a time. Please reconsider voting for this law and allowing consideration of a broader set of options! Thanks, Megan Teepe

As someone who worked in the mental health field for years this is a huge mistake. Enabling is not in the best interest of people who are mentally ill or addicted. Their health suffers, they die on the streets because they are unable to make good decisions. How is that in their best interest???

We need to find long term solutions to housing problems here. I suggest a foreign buyers tax on purchased properties as recently implemented in British Columbia. The Province is using collected funds to pay for low income housing. More and more foreign investors are buying property here driving up the cost of housing as happened in Vancouver B.C. Put a stop to it before it's too late!!!!!

If we open up public parks to homeless the public won't go to public parks.

We need to care about our homeless citizens. This bill not only fails to make an effective improvement for the homeless, but it will create animosity among residents that reduces future political will to help in meaningful ways. It's the wrong thing to do.

I also sent a letter to the city council detailing my horrible experiences with drug addicted homeless vandalizing my property and breaking into my home

Just a bad idea. We should do something else.

PLEASE take time to consider this ill-conceived ordinance and do not vote for it. Our outdoor public spaces are meant to be for all to share and enjoy their beauty in a safe, healthy environment.

This can't happen!
