Perhaps in addition to pointing out that a man was stabbed trying to stop a rape, we point out that homeless women living in tents with no security are raped at astonishing rates, and this proposal does nothing to protect them; instead perpetuating the very dangerous situation that leaves them vulnerable in the first place.

Please don't allow camping in our parks & public spaces. It doesn't help get people off the streets but it will create a health & safety issue for the people in Seattle.

I am a single mom living near Carkeek Park. Seattle's green spaces are one of the things that make Seattle an incredible place to live and raise my kids. I've seen how Ballard has changed since tent city came-supposedly the people in Tent City are the ones who are drug free and can live within the rules of tent city, but there still must be a number of people who are mentally ill and untreated, because it's kind of scary to walk around Ballard sometimes. I fear for what type of people will be camping in Carkeek park, who don't have to go through drug screening or agree to behaviors that would allow them to stay. It's not that I don't have sympathy for the homeless-I do-but this is NOT the solution! Please, Please, do not even consider allowing homeless to camp in our greenspaces without conducting an environmental impact statement! How will homeless camps impact the watershed, the wildlife, the beach and children's play areas? Please look at other solutions. Can you open up community centers for overnight stays, or libraries, or other large facilities? Let the green spaces stay green!

Help the homeless without making our tax payer funded parks unfit for families to use.

Please do not turn our public spaces into camps. No good will come of this, there will be inevitable altercations that will lead to violence. You clearly are way out of your element on this.

This needs to be abolished immediately. An absolute reckless danger to society.

This legislation is outrageous, unfair, and will lead to numerous law suits against the city of Seattle. The tax paying citizens of Seattle have a right to use public property, parks, and ROW without having to walk around sleeping homeless, human waste, needles, garbage, and stolen items.

This is an unacceptable and dangerous idea! What about this council bill solves any problem for the homeless?

Even as a woman, I used to take the risk of visiting my local city park by myself just in order to be outside in a beautiful park. However, over time, as more and more homeless people are sleeping in the bushes, trees, in the public park bathrooms, etc., I no longer feel comfortable or safe. Even more so now that I have a baby and want to take him to enjoy these beautiful parks. Allowing the homeless to reside in our PUBLIC parks, making it their home, invites drugs and dangerous activities, pushing responsible families away from using the beautiful parks we pay for and take the time to keep clean.

This legislation just makes the status quo legal! It absolves the city of needing to do anything further while endangering the every day lives of the families that have to live with encampments in our neighborhoods. The higher numbers of individuals with untreated mental, alcohol and drug illnesses make it unsafe for school kids to walk to and from school! DO something about getting people out of sprawled tents! FUND with more money from developers, they need to pay more into this city they take advantage of.

Please find a different solution than camping in our parks and neighborhoods

Please allow enough time to review the ruling before a decision is made orbit is out to vote. Homeless people need homes, not campsites in public parks, which are for all of us to enjoy on a daily basis, but not live in.

This has got to stop! I'm chased to my car and I'm terrified in my own neighborhood in Ballard

This is the wrong solution. We need real housing and wrap around services. This proposal makes the City of an enabler. Let's create real solutions and with any proposal have impact studies on cost, effects on neighborhoods and effects on businesses as well as impacts on tourism and confer ions which bring I vital revenue and tax dollars.
