This is a failed experiment that has already been tried in other cities. People that are homeless need an address, shower, and place to feel safe if they are to find work and long term housing. This is not a solution that should be considered and will only further polarize neighborhoods against a part of the population that needs real help and real solutions.

The plan is not for Seattle. This has not worked in Portland and we'll not work here.

This plan is insane and dangerous to our community. Does the Seattle City Council understand that they are creating drug addict camps in the parks where our children play? Is the Council doing this as a vindictive measure against private property owners who must fund this madness? Will addicts be able to camp in front of the City Council members' homes? Not likely.

Please do not open up our parks to the homeless. They are a place for children to play at and enjoy- homeless encampments would make them extremely unsafe!

Our neighborhood parks are highly used by organized activities, children and community groups. This could create problems with health and safety should drug paraphernalia, garbage and other items be left. It should not be my financial responsibility to handle their garbage. I might be more interested in paying for something where they worked by cleaning graffiti or garbage for the city in return for shelter.

Sticking the homeless people in our Parks is not the solution to this problem. It's bad for the environment and the community.

World class cities do not punt when it comes issues of this magnitude and we can ill afford to kick the can down the road with this legislation. It will not address homelessness, drug addiction or mental illness and it most certainly will not eradicate our urban environment from the piles of garbage that we see more and more of around our great City - it will most certainly add to it. I encourage all fellow citizens to activate your voice, to be heard and to contact the council and/or to attend the next hearing on October 14th at City Hall. This legislation is the wrong approach and helps nobody, including the homeless.

We've been here twenty years, and well remember the problems
that camping in the park caused. Had to have the police out frequently in summer for noise, fights, drinking,
shooting up. There was persistent litter of condoms and needles right where my children played. The neighbors had multiple meetings to hire our own private security. Finally entreaties to the parks dept resulted in them cutting back all the dense foliage, and the SPD to step up patrols to correct the problem. I do not think returning to this status will be helpful or successful.

No encampment in open spaces, such as being considered.
